| Working at New Classrooms We are a passionled missiondriven organization ndash one that continually looks to match our team members with roles that fit their strengths and interests We look to bring on new team members who share a deepseated interest in improving our nationrsquos schools solving problems in innovative ways getting things done in a fastpaced and highly collaborative work environment and growing professionally About the Role This is not a role where you get put in a closet and asked to churn out queries We need someone who loves every aspect of how data contributes to an application because it it crucial to ours You will be responsible for designing our data model designing our data access methods ensuring proper data flow championing the data portion of our overall architecture and also supporting developers to make best use of that data layer We are a startup which means everyone wears many hats We need classic DBA capabilities as well as more strategic thinking and more tactical query writing You will report to the Product Development department andwill have touch points into Operations Academics and the Field organizations We need someone who is a solid strategic thinker but also a fast effective ldquodoerrdquo What You Would Do Collaborate with the Director of Architecture and Product Managers to produce and evolve data models for the products that drive our program Serve as the central point of contact for developers (in house and vendors) in need of data from multiple systems Design effective efficient data transformation procedures to facilitate integration between internal and external components Establish reliable standardized processes for basic database administration (backup disaster recovery index optimization security audits etc) Proactively investigate document and communicate issuesmeasures around data quality What We Are Looking For Strong desire to work in a highly collaborative dynamic fastpaced startup environment Adaptable to changing environment and circumstances Familiarity and comfort within an agile projectdev structure Interest in working closely with both technical and nontechnical team members Ability to internalize business goals and use that information to establish strategic data models that scale well Technical Skills Demonstrated experience managing production grade SQL server 2012 or SQL Azure database solutions (preferred) servicing thousands of concurrent users Comfort with alternative data management platforms including Postgres SQL Azure Table Storage memcached etc Functional understanding of managing onpremisehosted data solutions Mastery of core database development concepts such as creating and optimizing views indexes stored procedures and user defined functions Architectural understanding of how the data layer can best factor into an overall product stack Experience with data reconciliation and migration between data environments (eg dev test staging prod etc) Familiarity with data warehousing concepts (starsnowflake schema OLAP dimensional modeling etc) is preferred Compensation Commensurate with experience To Apply Please send cover letter and resume to jobsnewclassroomsorg mailtojobsnewclassroomsorg with the subject line Data |
