| Mercury Payment Systems is an integrated transaction processing company created to enhance pointofsale systems by offering credit debit check gift card and loyalty processing Mercuryrsquos integrated Internet protocol (IP) or dialup processing solutions are fast reliable and affordable Retailers can leverage the reliability and enhanced efficiency of integrated payment processing to increase productivity and customer satisfaction Mercury Payment Systems helps resellers increase their opportunities with reseller support and superior technology POSITION SUMMARY Software Engineer IIIrsquos Cobol are responsible for developing custom business applications in JavaJ2EE and for providing guidance and support to other Software Developers with our MAS (Merchant Accounting System) platform He or she will analyze requirements propose software design instruct software developers on the proper methods of design define standard database design develop solutions and provide support The Software Engineer III will set the standards for design and development of software for our maintenance team All of our Software Developers contribute to the complete software lifecycle process requirements gathering design implementation quality assurance and maintenance Our goal is to deliver timely and creative software solutions that enable Mercury to work more efficiently or add value to our partners PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Develop test and maintain software applications following the Mercury defined software development life cycle methodology Provide handson functional and technical expertise in the analysis design development implementation and maintenance of business processes and applications Have the ability to work on projects with minimal guidance from Managers and assume the responsibility for the success of the projects Adhere to all Mercury defined code standards with code maintainability being the focus Understand the business needs of internal customers and provide comprehensive solutions for such needs Architect the custom solutions to meet business requirements Provide consulting support on processes and systems issues Provide innovative ideas to improve the ability of the team Be able to present ideas and concepts with good verbal and presentation skills Convey information in a clear concise manner Develop written communication with few grammatical or spelling errors Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of applicable products and services as they evolve Increase knowledge through internal resources supervisors fellow employees company trainings and trade publications Keep abreast of current tools and technologies and suggest appropriate tools to improve software development Organize and prioritize duties Set development estimates and adhere to those schedules Focus on task at hand and minimize outside distractions QUALIFICATIONS middot All candidates must be eligible to work for any USbased company without additional sponsorship no third party candidates middot Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred middot 5 10 yearsrsquo experience in Java Development preferred middot At least 1015 years software development experience required SQL JAVA UNIX ApacheTomcat |
