_________________________________________ Position Systems MS SQL Database Administrator As the Systems MS SQL Database Administrator at ProSites you will be an integral part of a growing IT team that supports many new and cutting edge technologies Working within a small but talented team you will be joining us in creating and supporting a worldclass web hosting platform for our company to continue to grow on This role is ideal for someone with a combination of recent Windows systems administration and Microsoft SQL database administration experience and is working towards furthering their knowledge in SQL database technologies While taking on the ownership of all aspects of our SQL database infrastructure you may need to occassionally back up our systems administration team in the daytoday administration of Windows Servers and other related technologies Responsibilities Provide escalated support by investigating and resolving complex server storage and SQL database related issues Responsible for the design implementation and maintenance of SQL server database servers including security backups reporting and disaster recovery procedures Install and maintain SQL server in production and development environments Evaluate test and deploy new releases patches and upgrades to the SQL database infrastructure Proactively identify troubleshoot and resolve live database systems issues Review current database infrastructure design and make recommendation for improvements Provide support for all SQL needs and enforcement of best practices such as naming conventions relational databases modeling and other standards Work closely with our development team to ensure our cutting edge web engine database platform is optimized and works as efficiently as possible Manage data from multiple sources and systems including both internal corporate systems and customer facing applications Automate data processing routine maintenance tasks and disaster recovery between SQL and other platforms Provide clear and consistent communication work cohesively and cooperatively with other teams and complete post resolution reporting for high severity incidents Participate in oncall responsibilities receiving and responding to afterhours alerts Perform afterhours or weekend server network maintenance as required Identify and evaluate new technologies that can improve processes and efficiencies within the database infrastructure Perform project tasks as assigned Create update and enhance written Standard Operating Procedures and documentation using guidelines focused on ease of understanding and completeness Effective incident and problem resolution including root cause analysis Perform other related tasks as required Required Skills Experience Fouryear degree in Information Technology Computer Science or equivalent experience 2+ years Systems Administration experience with Windows Server 20032008 server platforms (basic knowledge of Windows Server 2012 a plus) 2+ years recent experience in Microsoft SQL 20052008 database administration (knowledge of SQL Server 2012 a plus) Superb knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and 2008 including use of Query Analyzer stored procedures DTS Jobs Profiler and Reporting Services Extremely proficient with the installation configuration and maintenance of MS SQL Server Superb backend SQL skills in creating objects like Tables Stored Procedures Views Indexes Triggers Rules Defaults user defined data types and functions Solid TSQL programming skills with experience in query optimization and performance tuning (familiarity with SQL Profiler Execution Plan Performance Monitor and DBCC commands) Strong knowledge in database backup and disaster recovery technologies and procedures Strong knowledge in database replication Snapshot Merge and Transactional Experience upgrading from SQL Server 20052008 to 2008 R2 Working knowledge and experience with Analysis and Reporting Services SQL Server Clustering and Log Shipping Ability to provide database requirements analysis security and data modeling and storage requirements Ability to write custom scripts to automate various daily DBA operations is a must as is knowledge of high availability SQL Server solutions like SQL Server clustering DB mirroring and log shipping Ability to multitask and be a selfstarter Highly Desired Skills Experience Strong background in a disciplined software development life cycle (SDLC) process and excellent analytical programming and problem solving skills are a huge plus Knowledge and understanding of SQL Server 2012 AlwaysOn Availability Groups Experience planning implementing and supporting Microsoft SQL Server disaster recovery in a multidatacenter environment Experience managing Microsoft Dynamics CRM andor Great Plains databases and related applications Strong understanding of server storage technologies RAID best practices and capacity planning Experience with VMware vSphere 4x5x virtualization technologies a big plus Microsoft IIS NET administration and performance tuning experience preferably in a large web hosting environment Experience with SolarWinds monitoring products (NPM SAM NCM Storage Manager Log Event Manager) Basic understanding of incident problem change and release management (ITIL framework) Knowledge of Microsoft Azure and Private Cloud technologies Qualities Desired Effectively interact in a courteous and professional manner with all levels of staff Professional verbal and written communication skills Professional time and task management skills Ability to work autonomously with minimal direction when required Passionate about technology and stays well informed about new and emerging technologies and solutions Strong problem solving and
