| Position Summary Designs develops modifies and installs mechanical or electromechanical systems for a part of a major project or for a total project of moderate scope The Industrial Design Mechanical Engineer collaborates with product development to identify and incorporate trends into new and existing products The Engineer will be responsible for translating design concepts drawings and prototypes into the final product This may also involve researching creating and developing concepts and specifications that optimize the function value and appearance of physical products The Designer does ongoing research into target user requirements new materials technologies processes and design trends that can be utilized to advance the companyrsquos product portfolio The Designer may also influence creative direction that visually brings to life the physical products Essential Duties and Responsibilities Designs mechanical systems and components which includes selecting or designing all drive components to be included in mechanism estimating load and load factor on mechanism and designing load bearing structures in the mechanism Oversees the design or develops engineering drawings including plans and specifications based on calculations reviews interprets and revises engineering drawings Requisitions components and supplies for engineering projects interfacing with vendors to obtain price and product information Oversees andor performs the fabrication of experimental equipment Coordinates the troubleshooting and repair of equipment andor performs testing and troubleshooting of experimental equipment and systems and performs repairs modifications or adjustments to eliminate malfunctions Coordinates with other project group members other Engineers andor supervisor on design problems Occasional travel to China in order to work with vendors on getting products through the production process The above statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed in this job function They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and indeed additional responsibilities may be assigned Essential Education Work Experience and Skills Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field AND four years of mechanical engineering or related experience OR Eight years of mechanical engineering or related experience OR Any equivalent combination of experience andor education Experience with Solidworks or PROe required Experience with Rhino or Keyshot a plus Requires excellent oral and written communication skills advanced mathematical skills ability to work independently and as part of a team manage concurrent tasks and maintain high organizational and interpersonal skills Possess strong producttechnologyindustry knowledge including but not limited to Knowledge of engineering principles and procedures Knowledge of design applications Knowledge of mechanical equipment and systems Industrial Design experience in consumer electronics is highly preferred Must be a selfstarter with the ability to work with limited supervision A desire to learn new things a strong love of gadgets and a passion for innovation is required Experience in working with sources in Asia is a plus Must possess or be able to obtain a valid passport and Chinese travel visa ZAGG offers competitive compensation and an attractive company benefits package If you have what it takes to join our exciting team please submit your resume to careerszaggcom mailtocareerszaggcom |
