Job Description

Under the direction of the Director of Technology Support Services and as part of a team of technology professionals the Information Technology Specialist 5 (ITS5) position provides expert consultation and specialized analysis design development acquisition installation maintenance programming testing quality assurance troubleshooting and problem resolution for major organizationwide high riskhigh impact and missioncritical applications computing and data communication systems projects databases and database management systems support products and operational problems The ITS5 has the overall responsibility for the design testing management maintenance security and troubleshooting of all main campus server systems and is the primary administrator for the campus Microsoft Active Directory including user and group access rights file permissions home and shared network directories startup profiles shared printing and report distribution systems Primary responsibilities include Performance of highlycomplex tasks such as conducting capacity planning to determine organizationwide needs and make recommendations designing complex institutionwide enterprise systems crossing multiple networks platforms and data communication environments overseeing the daily operations of largescale enterprise systems identifying and resolving operational problems for major high risk systems with centralized organizationwide functions testing multidimensional applications providing quality assurance developing standards or enhancing existing high risk and impact mission critical applications integrating business solutions or writing feasibility studies and decision packages for high visibilityimpact initiatives Providing leadership and expert consultation for largescale projects or enterprise systems that often integrate new technology andor carry out organizationwide information technology functions or impact other institutions or agencies Provides project management leadership technical expertise and demonstrates knowledge of project management practices principles and skills May supervise information technology specialists or function as a recognized expert who is sought out by others in resolving or assessing controversial or precedentsetting issues Responsibility for the design implementation management maintenance patching and troubleshooting for complex enterprise wide application server backup and networking systems This includes Microsoft SQL Server Microsoft Exchange Server and Microsoft SharePoint Server NOTE Some pager oncall and years of experience software versions number of clients your role as the administrator etc QUALIFICATIONS Required Education Experience Four (4) years of experience as the primary administrator for Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft SQL in a medium to large enterprise environment Four (4) years of experience as the primary administrator for an enterprise data center including responsibility for system patching and system backuprestore Four (4) years experience troubleshooting and maintaining medium to large enterprise TCPIP network System administrator experience with serverdesktop operating systems such as Windows XP Vista 2000 2003 and 2008 in a medium to large Active Directory networked environment System administration experience working with Microsoft server applications such as Sharepoint SMS ISA IIS and certificate server Expert in Active Directory and Group Policy Preferred Education Experience MCSE and CCNA Certification preferred Experience with VMware andor Citrix XenServer desirable Knowledge of DNS WINS DHCP IPSec VPN Print Services Radius and Net Framework Microsoft Office applications including Word Excel Outlook Access PowerPoint FrontPage OSI model and TCPIP including routing switching and wireless networking concepts UnixLinux system administration Enterprise data processing management systems including imaging antivirus antispam and antispy ware solutions Wireless networking using 8021x Skill in Contributing to diversity by fostering a climate of multicultural awareness and appreciation Automating processes via scripting and troubleshooting Troubleshooting server hardware and storage systems resolving complex technical problems under stressful conditions Configuring Cisco IOS and Catalyst OS devices including routers switches and wireless access points Working with a scripting language such as Vbscript or Powershell Working efficiently both independently and as part of a team Providing strong customer service through effective oral and written communication PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT Ability to meet the physical demands of sitting for prolonged periods of time at a deskcomputer workstation using repetitive arm hand and finger movements Ability to work in an open office setting with frequent inperson interaction and numerous interruptions work under pressure handle multiple tasks and prioritize competing demands is essential TERM OF EMPLOYMENTSALARY This position is allocated to pay range 66 under the Washington State Department of Personnel Higher Education Salary Schedule The starting salary is 5010 with pay increases to 6575 per month Salary placement for new employees is determined by the College Shoreline Community College provides a generous benefits package which includes health care coverage and hours per week with schedule dependent upon department needs Note Due to legislative action a temporary 3 salary reduction will be taken from the salaries of classified positions earning equal to or
