| We have an immediate opening for an Industrial Controls Engineer in our EngineeringIT operation at the company headquarters in Waseca MN a city of 10000 residents located one hour south of the Twin Cities metro area As an Industrial Controls Engineer you will develop and support PLC HMI and Building Automation softwarehardware throughout all of the operating units of Brown Printing Company To also provide programming debugging and testing on control systems and support existing control system hardware and software and provide analysis and design of PLC and Building Automation system requirements Other responsibilities include Work with clientscontractors to develop functional specifications for control systems Design and code programs from functional specifications Develop test plans and fully test and debug all programs written Provides technical assistance to the operating units in the functional and technical operation of PLC HMI and Building Automation systems Identify and resolve PLC HMI and Building Automation application andor technical problems Maintains and supports consistent industrial control technology throughout all operating units where applicable Maintains documentation and diagrams of all programs and systems deployed Make suggestions to improve programming techniques and applications Develops maintains and executes backup and recovery procedures in case of equipment failure Works closely with the Engineering and Maintenance groups to implement and support common technologies while building optimal solutions for all operating units Implements and supports industrial control technologies throughout the company Be responsible for oncall support of PLC HMI and Building Automation Systems Acts as a higher level technical support resource for operating units in the use of industrial control systems deployed Maintains up to date knowledge of commonly used concepts practices and procedures within the industrial control and computer technology field Participates in project planning and scheduling including estimating technical and development tasks Provides technical leadership on projects The person we seek will have completed a Bachelors degree (B A) from fouryear college or university andor four to five years related experience andor training or equivalent combination of education and experience Previous experience with building automation systems required knowledge of Johnson Controls Extended Architecture is preferred Other qualifications include Ability to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals technical procedures or governmental regulations Ability to write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers clients customers and the general public Strong organizational and problem solving skills Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts interest commissions proportions percentages area circumference and volume Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where standardizationalternatives exist Brown Printing Company is the 3rd largest publication printer and 5th largest catalog printer in the country Our large volume high technology facilities print some of the top magazines in the United States including Time Sports Illustrated People Parents Family Circle Essence Real Simple and the New England Journal of Medicine |
