| (Two Positions) 2566 3849 per hour (53377 80065 estimated annual) The San Mateo County Transit District serves nearly 100000 customers each weekday on its SamTrans buses RediWheels paratransit vehicles Caltrain commuter rail cars and shuttles as well as a robust capital program The Transit District which is in the heart of the San Francisco Bay Area is the managing agency for the San Mateo County Transportation Authority Staff enjoys a dynamic organization that fosters personal development and professional advancement of its staff The Transit Districts core values include integrity customer focus respect quality teamwork leadership and accountability Excellent benefits are provided The agencys Office of Public Affairs is currently seeking two Public Affairs Specialists to perform the full range of activities supporting internal and external communications We seek an experienced professional to serve as the lead for the Districts external safety and education program plan organize and coordinate special events research write and edit collateral materials including fact sheets newsletters brochures and news releases and communicate and respond electronically to blog comments Twitter and Facebook postings and other mediums as available The Public Affairs Specialists will attend and make presentations to civic and community groups including some that hold night and weekend meetings plan and coordinate outreach to individuals and areas potentially affected by planned or ongoing projects construction activities service changes and other relevant District activities research and respond to inquiries comments concerns and complaints from the public plan organize and coordinate annual safety awareness event expand and maintain digital photo files respond to media and public inquiries when providing oncall support for the Manager Communications andor the Public Information Officer and prepare and disseminate updates about ongoing construction projects You will perform all job duties and responsibilities in a safe manner to protect yourself your fellow employees and the public from injury or harm as well as promote safety awareness and follow safety procedures in an effort to reduce or eliminate accidents Each position one reporting to the Director Government and Community Affairs and the other reporting to the Manager Communications will assist in implementing the goals and objectives outlined in the divisions strategic communications plan Qualified candidates should have sufficient education training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position We seek an individual with a Bachelors degree in Communications Public Relations Journalism or a related field and sufficient fulltime experience in a similar position The successful candidate must have good judgment and the ability to communicate thoughts clearly and simply orally and in writing plus good decisionmaking problem solving and research skills Must be proficient in Word or similar program and must possess a valid California driver license with a safe driving record To apply please visit our website at httpwwwsmctdcomjobshtml and follow the related application instructions The San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans) is an Affirmative ActionEqual Opportunity Employer |
