| Responsibilities of this position include Performing general server administration tasks monitoring and optimizing system performance and reliability operational workflow development and managing enhancements upgrades and providing various levels of support Develops and maintain system documentation for configuration and customization Primary administrator of VMware and Microsoft server environments Provides server level support for Physical and Virtual server environments Provides some after hours support and system operations MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES Architects and designs server systems to meet business and technical requirements Recommends and develops technical roadmaps Provides technical recommendations and solutions for how to meet business problems Applies patches and upgrades for systems performs system checkout and verification of change Develops technology standards and automated system processes Leads outage and incidents with multiple technology partners and participants Implements new systems and retires older equipment Develops and follows change management documentation including back out plans Documents system changes through change management team process and procedures configuration management databases and system diagrams Collaborates and communicates with other IT groups to stay informed of changes and developments that may impact the production QA and development systems Assists in establishing performance metrics and measurement and reporting of established metrics Provides level 2 or 3 support Writes technical specifications for purchase of hardware and systems software Makes recommendations for softwarehardware based on research in support of procurement efforts when appropriate Builds servers and new system implementation Troubleshoots network storage server cabling database operating system and application elements of a system Acts as a liaison and advocates for systems and the tools processes and procedures necessary throughout the lifecycle of technology Administers and implements security processes and procedures Monitors the performance and availability of systems Documents and recommends policies procedures and systems architecture Collaborates and communicates with peers customers and leaders of the health capacity patch level and overall status of systems Eager to share knowledge mentor others and be an example of collaboration and teamwork Highly adept problem solver Plan install and maintain a VMware vCenter server and infrastructure to support centralized configuration and management of a VMware vSphere environment Install and configure VMware ESXi hosts and HA to form a cluster that supports High Availability of the running VMs Plan for complete and troubleshoot live migrations of VMs using VMware vMotion Plan for complete and troubleshoot live migrations of the VM storage using VMware Storage vMotion Plan for complete and troubleshoot cold migrations of VMs using VMware Converter or other 3rd party tools to move powered off VMs from one vSphere environment to another Configure and user VM Templates and Host Profiles to help Automate the deployment and configuration of new VMs Create new VMware Datastores on Storage Array LUNs for use by VMs Create configure and use vSphere Distributed Switches (vDS) to provide VMs with network connectivity SKILL SET At least 4 years experience in Windows Operating systems in both the client and server environment At least 3 year experience in Security Practice and Concepts (Firewalls Intrusion DetectionPrevention) At least 3 years experience in administering and configuring Exchange environments At least 1 years experience in administering Sharepoint At least 6 years experience in administering Active Directory file shares and security At least 6 years experience in systems backup and recovery At least 5 years experience in log analysis error detection fault correction patching and upgrading both the server client and applications Administrative expertise with VMware ESX and HyperV Expert level experience with EMC productsplatforms VNX Data Domain Avamar Recovery Point Data Protection Advisor and Site Recovery Manager Expert level capability in Active Directory Services DNS DHCP Domain Controllers File and Print Services Group Policy Prior experience with HP Proliant HP Blade Systems Insight Manager Scripting with Powershell or VBscript highly desired REQUIREMENTS 4 year undergraduate degree preferred MIS Computer Science MCSE 2003 and MCITP 2008 Server Administrator or Enterprise Administrator Certifications required |
