| Great Basin College in Elko Nevada seeks a dynamic individual with strong web design programming general computing and personal interrelationship skills for the position of Webmaster The GBC website is the informational hub for students faculty and staff for communities within a 62000 square mile service area The primary role of Webmaster will be the oversight of the GBC home website that includes the organization creation and maintenance of individual web locations for functions of the college as a whole There will also be the responsibility of assistance with the web pages of the various individual functions sites and departments of the college There will be significant webaccess support of critical college functions such as enrollment online class portals and many others The ability to use basic computer coding in web design and functionality is imperative for this position A secondary responsibility of the position will be to work collaboratively with the Online Education office in code development for the delivery of online and online enhanced courses There must be an understanding of learning technologies and media to facilitate course development The time spent with online course assistance will vary with the time of year and relative need of the function The position is based on the Elko campus anticipated to begin in March or April 2013 The position primarily reports to the Vice President for Academic Affairs but must cooperate with the Director of Online Education for specific projects The priority of responsibilities will be clearly defined upon employment QUALIFICATIONS As part of the application package a portfolio of work created totally or mostly by the applicant is required The portfolio must be made available with the application and may be as simple as a list of URLs that can be visited by reviewers through the internet The portfolio must clearly demonstrate the skills and ability of the applicant to perform the functions of a Webmaster as required below Invitations for interviews will be decided in large part on the quality demonstrated in the portfolio Minimum qualifications An earned Bachelorrsquos degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution demonstrated to be appropriate for the position The demonstrated ability to create and maintain complex relevant functional web sites utilizing programming and other web design skills and products Strong general PC skills and expertise in MS Office Adobe suite of products etc Flash programming experience and familiarity with Web 20 tools Mastery of basic commandline Linux (including file ownerships permissions cron functionality etc) Mastery of XHTML Javascript Java and CSS Demonstrated ability in web graphics design and optimization Experience working with relational databases and data format conversions Ability to prioritize and allocate time appropriately among many users requesting service Ability to understand and communicate concepts quickly and accurately Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to serve a wide range of needs and functions The ability to support users with varying levels of computer expertise The ability and willingness to learn new technological skills independently Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and orally Qualification assets for the position PERL programming experience PHPMySQL skill Learning management system experience (online course delivery) Accomplished presentation skills including development and delivery To ensure that your application is accepted the following documents are required to be attached Letter of Interest Current Resume (3) References and Transcripts (under other documents) PLEASE NOTE THE REQUIREMENT OF A PORTFOLOIO FOR THIS POSITION (Attach transcriptscertificates and portfolio under other documents) Completed applications must be submitted by 1201 am February 28 2013 Review of Applications may begin February 25 2013 |
