Job Description

Summary Install, configure, and support an organization's unified communication systems. Maintain network hardware and software. Monitor systems to ensure network availability to all system users and perform necessary maintenance to support systems availability while coordinating with other network support and client server specialists. Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, or other network and system problems, and replace defective components when necessary. Monitor network performance to determine whether adjustments need to be made, and to determine where changes will need to be made in the future. Confer with network users about how to solve existing system problems. Design, install, configure, troubleshoot and manage security and networking solutions. Support and provide knowledge transfer to customers. Assist sales staff with pre-sales technical support, as required. Planning and executing customer proof of concepts, providing product training and support, and leading rapid deployment efforts. Responsible for translating business requirements into functional/technical specifications. Document designs and scope projects in a clear, concise and accurate manner. Competencies Exceptional technical background and extensive experience in complex heterogeneous networking. Excellent project management, project scoping, troubleshooting, problem resolution, documentation and customer management skills required. Ability to provide appropriate feedback to management on process improvement suggestions. Promote and maintain high standards of customer service. Ability to communicate at all levels of an organization from end-user to senior management about both business and IT needs. Ability to Maintain and continually develop accurate product and application knowledge. Education and Experience Degree from a two or four-year technical college or university in Information Technology or related field is preferred or equivalent combination of 2-3 years consulting or industry experience with IT security and networking technologies. Experience with a customer relationship management (CRM) tool such as the Salesforce.com platform is a plus. Experience with ShoreTel systems a plus, experience working with technologies from Microsoft, including Windows Server 2003/2008, Active Directory and Group Policy and experience troubleshooting applications installed on both end-user PC’s and Servers. Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of, switching, routing protocols, Transport Technologies including MPLS systems. Working knowledge of VOIP and other networking protocols. Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret data and reports. With the ability to correspond, effectively present information, respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit or step up to access Data Centers; use hands to, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch and twist. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Working Conditions The working conditions characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Capability to travel within Pacific Northwest and other destinations for short term projects with the flexibility to adapt to change. This position occasionally may require an adjusted work schedule and evening hours in order to meet or attend vendor/customer needs. Work is generally performed in an office, with occasional Data Center access. The General Office environment lighting and temperature is usually moderate. Data Center environment is generally cool in temperature general in lighting; the noise level is generally loud. Work is normally performed within an office environment. Supervisor Responsibilities This position has no Supervisor Responsibilities.
