Our client is a Manhattan based investment house, currently home to a small team of circa 30 employees. The organization has a strong emphasis on cutting edge technology and is currently building a Greenfield algorithmic trading platform in Java. Through this expansion the team is seeking a senior java developer/architect with strong experience in the algo space to work closely alongside the CTO and take a key role in building the core platform. You will work closely with other technologists and quants, taking a lead in the design, development and implementations. Your role will take a broad focus incorporating delivering algorithms, risk management, analytics and infrastructure.
You will primarily use your skills in Core Java, although it is expected that you take a strong interest in technology and you are open to learning new programming languages (Scala, Python, etc)
You will work in a small, challenging and dynamic front office environment in the Manhattan office. It is essential that you have strong front office experience (within a bank or buy side firm) and very strong knowledge of algo trading systems. Compensation will be very competitive and representative of the front office nature of the role, with competitive bonus potential. You will report in to the CTO and there is a strong possibility that if you perform well and demonstrate the aptitude, you will make the transition to the quantitative/trading side over the coming years.
The team has just started its interviews and is looking to begin interviews asap. Candidates at all levels (up to Director) will be considered.
Responsibilities for Core Java Developer;
- Join a small and collaborative investment house in Manhattan
- Take a key role in the design of a green-field algorithmic trading system
- Work closely with senior partners and the CTO
- Mentor junior java developers
- Use strong business/mathematical skills

- Strong education (MSc/PhD preferred)
