The PL/SQL Developer is responsible for analysis, design, programming, testing, implementation and production support of Oracle PL/SQL code. This individual works as part of a project team and will assist other developers and team members as necessary. Major Job Duties and Responsibilities Development and maintenance of data extraction, transformation and loading procedures (ETL) for Oracle databases Analysis, design, programming, testing, implementation and production support of Oracle PL/SQL scripts and stored-procedures Development, modification and tuning of PL/SQL and stored-procedures as required Assist in the design, planning and implementation of data models and database related solutions Assist with performance tuning of the databases in production, development, and test environments to achieve optimum performance levels in standalone and multi-tiered configurations Development of UNIX scripting as required Preparation of database scripts and applications for deployment of builds and releases Provide technical analysis and resolution of problems and incident reporting Provide support to and coordinate with application developers, IT operations staff, platform administrators and end-users when required Participate in the after-hours roster for on-call support *Experience and Knowledge Degree qualifications in a relevant discipline and 1+ years experience developing PL/SQL scripts and stored-procedures Sound knowledge of Oracle databases on version 10 or higher, with Oracle certification an advantage Strong programming background with experience writing and optimizing SQL and PL/SQL code Knowledge of UNIX scripting Knowledge of Oracle Forms is an advantage Sound general knowledge of IT systems and facilities *Skills and Disposition Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills Ability to work in a project-based team environment with minimal supervision Must be able to handle multiple tasks at one time, in a fast paced office environment handling multiple demands Ability to meet deadlines and reprioritize work to meet changing requirements Strong organization and time management skills Able to communicate effectively to people at all levels of the organization * |
