| Summary of Position The Design Engineer is responsible for new product design and development and also participates heavily in product certification implementation and after launch support Heshe supports manufacturing locations through training and communication marketing efforts through interface with customers sales organizations and marketing procurement through interface with suppliers and accounting by ensuring new product costs are accurate Key Duties and Responsibilities bull Design new products based on agreed upon specifications and company strategy at an accelerated pace using the latest solid modeling software and techniques bull Bring high value low cost products to market through interface with RD marketing manufacturing and procurement organizations bull Participate with Manufacturing Engineering personnel during product testing and certification bull Support manufacturing locations through direct interface and consistent and effective communication bull Take input fromprovide direct support to product and project managers manage tasks timelines etc Level of Supervision bull Give direction to drafters technicians vendors andor other suppliers Experience Required bull Experience developing new products preferably in the fenestration industry EducationLicensesCertificationFormal Training bull Bachelor of Science in a scientific or engineering discipline from an accredited university or bull 10+ years of equivalent industry experience Essential Abilities bull Must be selfmotivated and proactive able to work unsupervised and anticipate needs bull have creative designproblem solving skills bull be capable of handling multiple projects concurrently bull be able to speak and present to large groups to effectively and efficiently articulate design intent bull have 3D CAD skills preferably in Solidworks bull driven to perform at a high level of quality and to meet an ontime schedule Work Environment bull Corporate engineering office RD lab field work manufacturing floor customer and vendor sites bull Minimal travel may be required |
