Job Description
| The Security Engineer is responsible for establishing and maintaining a program to ensure information assets are adequately protected This position reports to and works under the direction of the Chief Security Officer and provides Farm Credit MidAmerica (FCMA) with information security strategy controls objectives standards risk assessments management processes and technology procedures to ensure that FCMA information assets are adequately protected with acceptable levels of control These controls enable the business to operate efficiently costeffectively and in compliance with regulatory and industry best practices MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES 1 Establishes the direction for deployment of information security technology solutions that are clearly aligned with the strategic objectives and priorities of Farm Credit MidAmerica 2 Participate in the development of IT strategies in collaboration with IT leaders and Security Committee 3 Develop document maintain and oversee compliance for IT controls objective sand procedures 4 Educate company employees using SANS Institute posters newsletters and videos pertaining to security exposures which could be used to defraud FCMA 5 Conduct regular security reviews with Nessus Security Center Provide exception reporting and remediation plans to leadership 6 Make recommendations to business leadersmanagement to ensure alignment with current and future security standards and enhancements that will secure and safeguard our infrastructure and applications 7 Perform internal and external penetration validation testing to ensure that computer systems are up to date relative to all operating systems patches and virus protection software 8 Assess our critical applications to ensure they are protected from security exposures and ensure they are monitored end to end for uptime availability 9 Work with the ldquoCritical Situationrdquo team in response to any outages penetrationsintrusions viruses etc 10 Prepare RFPs bid proposals contracts scope of work reports and other documentation for IT security projects and associated efforts MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education and ExperienceBachelors degree in computer science business or related field and 2 years relevant work experience At least 1 years in IT Security infrastructure design and operations good project management skills oral and written communication skills and analytical skills necessary Knowledge of current protocols and standards related to IT security services required |
