| FINAL FILING DATE Thursday February 14 2013 by 500 pm THE POSITION Under general supervision operates installs maintains supports and monitors computer andor communications hardware and software or other electronic equipment installs assembles upgrades configures and tests computer hardware software peripheral equipment data communication equipment radio telephone and audiovisual equipment monitors computer systems and detects documents and corrects errors or equipment failures diagnoses basic computer network or electronic equipment problems and makes repairs or reports information according to procedures may repair or replace defective parts andor contact vendors to arrange for repairs may provide technical support for users regarding hardware software network and telecommunication problems and performs other related duties as required QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES Knowledge of Principles of computer systems procedures analysis and design principles and techniques of programming and data processing computer logic and mathematics uses capabilities characteristics and limitations of computers and related equipment principal languages used in programs computer applications utilized in governmental organizations records storage and handling techniques Ability to Analyze and define problems and conceptualize new computer solutions develop and revise computer programs train users in system applications design and prepare comprehensive reports flow charts diagrams and instructions communicate effectively both orally and in writing work effectively and cooperatively with computer system users and department staff read interpret and apply complex technical publications manuals effective customer service techniques and other documents in performance of assigned tasks Education Training Experience Graduation from high school or equivalent AND two years of experience involving the maintenance and repair of microcomputer software hardware networking systems and peripherals similar to those used in the department is required Knowledge of HyperV Environment Windows Server 2003 2008 r2 2010 Office 2003 2007 2010 Laserfiche and Microsoft SQL is desirable Possession of a California driver license with an acceptable driving record and evidence of insurance are required APPLICATION INFORMATION Applicants must file a concise and complete City application regarding their qualifications for the position with the Human Resources Office by the filing deadline Applications may be accompanied by a resume describing experience education and training in relation to the requirements of the position however resumes will not be accepted in lieu of a City employment or supplemental application You may download a City application on our web page at wwwbuenaparkcomhr All applications will be reviewed and only those candidates determined to be most qualified on the basis of experience and education as submitted will be invited to participate in the selection process Exam Weight Oral Interview 100 An eligibility list may be established subject to a preemployment medical exam (including drug and alcohol) background investigation (including polygraph test) and a psychological test NO SMOKING CLAUSE Newly hired employees as a condition of continued employment shall refrain from smoking tobacco or any other nontobacco substance at any time on or off duty Violations of this condition of employment shall be deemed good cause for dismissal |
