Job Description

The VoIP Communications Engineer will be responsible for designing planning configuration planning implementing and managing VoIP infrastructure solutions at Houston Community College Although the primary focus of this position is to implement and support the VoIP infrastructure it may also be tasked with general network support including security and other network related duties Provide leadership in IT for the development of highly appropriate tightly integrated consistently available secure flexible and faulttolerant VoIP systems (including but not limited to Cisco Call Manager Cisco Unity voice gateways) Provide administration and basic scripting support for Cisco Contact Center Express Premium and related call center applications Develop and maintain a comprehensive and successful Cisco Unified Communications plan Create architect develop and install solutions to complex technical procedural and logistical problems Design implement and test information technology security mechanisms and systems in the context of the VoIP infrastructure Identifying testing developing and implementation of new technologies Appropriately responding to needs and requirements assessments from Information Technology Preventing and coordinating responses to security incidents Assist in creating and developing formal guidelines and policies to ensure appropriate systems support and designs Working with IT staff and appropriate members of the district and colleges to provide responsive solutions and options for problems and opportunities Monitoring the development of new standards with VoIP technologies Acting as a consultant to other departments regarding VoIP design and support (meetings design assistance support working with FE on projects) Completing projects and tasks independently and with limited direct supervision Other duties may be assigned Education Requirements Bachelors degree in Information Systems Computer Science or related field required Eight (8) years directly related work experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirement Experience Requirements Three (3) years handson VoIP design implementation experience required Three (3) years handson configuration and administration of Cisco Call Manager Cisco UnityUnity Connection Cisco Contact Center Express and Cisco Emergency Responder platforms Voice Gateways and SRST routers in a large fullyredundant enterprise environment Three (3) years of experience providing customer service and network services to technically adept and inexperienced clients is required Three (3) years experience working in an environment with converged structured cabling systems (analogdigital voice and data) required Three (3) years handson experience with data cabling installation practices as well as fiber and copper materials is strongly preferred Two (2) years of experience with systems architecture and administration is preferred Project management experience is preferred Experience in an academic environment is preferred NOTE Parttime experience will be counted as half of fulltime experience for example two (2) years of parttime experience will equal one (1) year of fulltime experience Click on the Apply Now button on this page to submit your online application Only online applications will be accepted for this position Prior to completing the online application please review each requisition for complete details and requirements Please view the HCCS web page wwwhccsedu and proceed to JobsHCCS If you need assistance please call (713) 7188565
