Job Description

TITLE SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR HOURS Fulltime 40 hours per week Monday Friday 800AM 500PM Additional hours will be required including participation in an oncall rotation response to emergencies incidents and maintenance work Schedule may vary according to Academy needs FUNCTION This position is primarily responsible for supporting a Windows Serverbased information infrastructure that delivers availability performance and security ESSENTIAL DUTIES Install and manage Windows servers network storage and other technology appliances Maintain Windows and HPUX OS releases on servers Support services such as DHCP WINS Active Directory printing Maintain server and application documentation Responsible for the administration of email and other applications Responsible for firewall administration and performing data backups testing continuity plans and monitoring server performance Plan and execute technology based projects (ie email server) and actively participate on project teams Troubleshoot and resolve complex technology based problems review and respond to open support cases and requests for new services Evaluate technology needs and propose recommendations to Manager of Network Services and other appropriate committees Research and recommend new technologies or improvements in existing operations Provide briefings to management and other groups within ITS Follow and adhere to procedures for maintaining safe work conditions and ensure security is maintained in work areas QUALIFICATIONS EducationTraining A college degree and one or both of the following technology certification(s) are required MCITP in Windows Server 2008 andor VMWare Certified Professional Experience Minimum of three years of experience as a systems administrator with knowledge on a variety of technologies from networking to server hosting Experience or certification with NetApp is a plus Understanding of troubleshooting procedures performance tuning and disaster recovery Demonstrated success in resolving advanced technical problems with the ability to plan organize and execute multiple requests simultaneously proven ability as a team builder and effective communicator detail oriented and ability to follow procedures Equal Employment Opportunities The Academy is an equal opportunities employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race color marital status religion gender age sexual orientation veteran status national origin genetic information or physical or mental disabilities which do not prevent performance of essential job tasks
