| Current Need This is an opportunity for a Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM v63) Administrator to assist in developing and operating a new TSM instance for the Managed Services Business Unit A successful candidate will identify and execute processes to provide data protection supporting a large and complex backup environment A key activity for the position is reviewing and where appropriate rearchitecting the TSM jobs for mission critical servers to ensure the most time efficient execution Additionally the job responsibilities involve performing core TSM administrative and operational activities in support of the data protection operation The successful candidate may collaborate with other inhouse TSM Subject Matter Experts to provide a world class approach to data protection Position Description Asses analyze plan and deploy data protection for a large and complex backup environment using IBM Tivoli Storage Manager version 63 Review the TSM architecture to maximize performance of backup jobs Advise Operations Management of solutions or techniques that would enhance the service quality or TCO of the operation Work with Operations Technologists and Customer Service staff to reduce any conflicts with the Customer peak operational needs Work with the DR staff to solution that would improve the performance of DR backups while reducing their costs Where appropriate revised or define TSM configuration standards Troubleshoot and optimize installation of TSM for operational and DR backup and recovery Work independently Perform the day to day administrative tasks Work a flexible schedule Assist in identifying and deploying best practices for data protection and help avoid conflict between backups and peak usage periods Assist in developing data protection standards for new asset deployment Minimum Requirements 6+ years experience in network systems administration Education 4year degree in computer science or related field or equivalent Critical Skills Expert level skills in IBM Tivoli Storage Manager administration in a large Enterprise environment Experience supporting TSM Server V6x Experience in troubleshooting TSM backuprecovery issues 6 ndash 10 years of Storage and Backup experience with at least 2 years in TSM Experience working with IBM Tivoli technical support Working OS knowledge of Windows Unix and Linux servers as it relates to TSM Working knowledge of Bare Metal Restore (BMR) Working knowledge of VMware Extensive experience working in fastpaced highavailability storage environment Highly motivated with excellent interpersonal and technical skills TSM Certification a strong plus Experience migrating and upgrading TSM Experience crafting and utlizing different data retention policies Experience accommodating
