| 1312 WEB DEVELOPER COMMUNICATIONS Office of Communications The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) is a small nonpartisan agency that provides economic and budgetary analysis to the Congress The Office of Communications seeks a frontend web developer to serve as lead developer and systems administrator for CBOs public website and as the site collection administrator for its Intranet Through its threeperson web team the Office of Communications supports CBOs mission by developing executing and managing successful online strategies The web developer will provide technical expertise for the online communications team including the skills to ensure seamless daytoday operations and the knowledge to assist in developing tactical and strategic improvements to CBOs web presence This is a midlevel position requiring an individual who can shift seamlessly between producing welldocumented code upgrading Apache writing valid CSS3 and designing user interfaces The web developer will Maintain CBOs content management systems and their underlying infrastructure (namely its webservers and databases) Develop new functionality for CBOs websites including modifying existing code bases adding or configuring new modules for CBOs content management system or creating custom modules or applications as needed Monitor CBOs cloudhosted servers and conduct regular reviews to ensure that CBO is receiving maximum benefit from its external infrastructure Manage relationships with external contractors serving as daytoday point of contact Serve as CBOs technical expert for a review of the agencys website infrastructure and content management systems and assist in the creation of short medium and longterm strategies for maintenance and upgrades Provide technical expertise for developing policies and work plans for maintaining and improving CBOs public website Qualifications Applicants should Have a minimum of 5 years of experience maintaining websites including at least 3 years of experience working with Drupal and 3 years working in a LAMP (Linux Apache MySQL PHP) environment Some experience with SharePoint is preferred but not required Have experience maintaining an array of servers including self and cloudhosted Experience working with managed cloud hosting is strongly preferred Possess impeccable CSS HTML and JavaScript skills including CSS3 and HTML5 and basic familiarity with the jQuery library Candidates should also have a solid understanding of responsive design and a commitment to ensuring that cuttingedge web apps degrade gracefully in older browsers (IE7+) Be experienced maintaining open source web platforms CBO is a Drupal shop and utilizes open source solutions whenever practical Be experienced using and maintaining a central repository (for example Git SVN or Mercurial) for managing and documenting CBOs code base Experience developing user interfaces for textheavy publishing sites and an active interest in the future of online publishing is desirable but not required Be comfortable managing a diverse technology platform including some legacy applications Enjoy the challenge of working with professionals who may have limited technology experience The ideal candidate will understand how to give clients what they want and not just what they ask for and possess the tact to explain why those are sometimes different will enthusiastically support the open source community (personal contributions to open source projects are especially valued) and will have a passion for creating a great user experience for both end users and content creators Salary and Benefits Salary is competitive with positions in the executive branch and will be commensurate with experience education and other qualifications CBO offers excellent benefits and an appealing work environment How to Apply Please submit a cover letter rsum salary history a work sample and contact information for three (3) references online at wwwcbogovcareers This position is governed by the Veterans Employment Opportunities Act as made applicable by the Congressional Accountability Act as amended Contact Nancy Fahey Washington DC 20515 2022262628 careerscbogov EEO MFVD |
