JackRabbit Sports is looking for a Magento Developer Manager to lead the rollout of our ECommerce and online applications We are accepting applications for this position through Sunday Jan 27th Please use httpwwwformstackcomformsjrabmagento to apply If youre an experienced ECommerce Web Application developer and are sick of hoping from project to project with no long term ownership of the fruits of your labor this is a fantastic opportunity to put your abilities to use in a challenging role that will dramatically impact our business JackRabbit Sports is one of the leading Running Specialty stores in the United States and one of the top specialty stores in NYC Our success is a result of a commitment to customer service to making JackRabbit a good place to work and to giving back to our community We are making a huge push into ECommerce via an integrated set of web and mobile applications in 2013 Our ECommerce capabilities need to augment and compliment our retail store capabilities and our stores need to augment our online capabilities The goal is to make JackRabbit far and away the highest service most convenient place to buy running gear for New Yorkers We have chosen Magento as our ECommerce platform and are seeking a unique individual who can help us develop a roadmap of capabilities to offer online and then oversee the implementation of those capabilities The right person will be capable of doing a fair amount of development and implementation on their own and will also be able to manage outside developers and designers both onshore and offshore More importantly the right person will understand our business and objectives well enough to suggest capabilities and services that we havent thought of to make us even stronger Your primary responsibilities will include Work with senior management to establish a roadmap of capabilities including projected dates and specific functions Adjust the roadmap with changing priorities resources and development hurdles Within each capability develop a functional specification for the system(s) a user interface framework for frontend and backend users and workflows for staff Where possible identify free or commercial modules and addons to help implement those capabilities For simple capabilities where no preexisting module is available develop and test the software directly in PHP following Magento best practices For more complex capabilities identify hire and supervise developers and other partners Specify and oversee all user interface design ensuring that capabilities are easy to use and intuitive for everyone who interacts with them Develop test plans for each capability to ensure that everything is working smoothly Develop rollout plans and training materials so that internal users customers and partners can take advantage of the new capabilities quickly and unanticipated problems can be rolled back if needed To do this job well youll bring a diverse set of skills to the role A deep understanding of application specification development testing and deployment in a Magento environment Ability to understand not just the technology but how people will use it so that the capabilities you create add value for all users Ability to work with store managers buyers warehouse staff and others to make sure we develop workflows that fit the systems strengths and weaknesses Ability to understand broad outlines of capabilities and detailed requirements and turn them into specifications and applications A very hands on ability to manage the souptonuts deployment of Magento including Administering web servers in a load balanced environment Maintaining production development and test environments Security hardening Performance tuning and failure protection A knowledge of Magento data structures and database design enabling us to integrate Magento with other enterprise applications This is a full time salaried position in our 14th St location in New York City JackRabbit is an equal opportunity employer We do not discriminate on the basis of race religion national origin gender sexual orientation age disability or any other reason Nothing in this job posting should be construed as an offer or guarantee of employment
