| The University of California Merced the newest campus in the worldrenowned University of California system seeks a new Associate Vice Chancellor of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer Opened in 2005 UC Merced is the first US research university to be built in the 21st century and the first new UC campus in 40 years Reporting to the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost the new Associate Vice Chancellor and CIO will guide the development and implementation of an IT strategy that will help lead this unique institution into an exciting new era as it continues to grow and distinguish itself within the University of California system and among research universities globally The University of California Merced (UCM or UC Merced) was conceived both to increase access to the University of California system (UC System) for Californias top achievers and serve needs of the rapidly growing Central Valley one of the worlds most productive agricultural regions Like all UC campuses academic research is a critical part of UC Merceds mission The process of discovery provides its students with a deeper understanding of the world and its cultural social natural and engineered systems In its first six years UC Merced has grown enrollment to over 5700 students including 280 graduate students and has a total budget of over 130 million the campus is expected to grow to accommodate up to 25000 students within three decades while continuing to develop the campus across 815 acres UC Merced is the most ethnically diverse campus in the UC System and has been designated as a HispanicServing Institution by the US Department of Education enabling access to associated federal and private grants Sixty percent of the undergraduates are first generation college students The Associate Vice Chancellor of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer (CIO) is the head of the Information Technology division and serves as a key member of the university leadership team The CIO will oversee the delivery of IT services and maintain a secure infrastructure to meet users needs ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and support innovation in research and scholarship teaching and learning The successful candidate for this position will be an imaginative information technology leader an outstanding collaborative manager and an excellent communicator with a proven record of executive leadership in information technology within environments of comparable complexity ideally including experience in an academic setting The new CIO will bring an expansive understanding of the potential of information technology to advance the purpose of a public research university and will have a demonstrated commitment to diversity UC Merced has retained Isaacson Miller a national executive search firm to assist in this search Confidential inquiries nominations referrals and resumes with cover letters should be sent in confidence to David Bellshaw Bernard R Jones and Cati Mitchell 1000 Sansome Street Suite 300 San Francisco CA 94111 Email 4680imsearchcom Email submission of application materials is strongly encouraged UC Merced is an affirmative actionequal opportunity employer committed to a campus climate that embraces diversity Contact Us 4680imsearchcom |
