| The Academy of Art University is seeking parttime instructors to teach core classes in the School of Web Design New Media Teaching opportunities are available both oncampus and online classes in our BFA and MFA programs The School of Web Design New Media offers a range of classes in web programming visual design for the screen and user experience We teach students how to design and build compelling interactive projects (including websites and mobile applications) All classes have a strong emphasis on process and strategy We are looking for instructors that can teach classes in the following categories (candidates should have professional experience with all or some of the following) WEB PROGRAMMING 9679 Building interactive projects using web standards (HTMLCSSJavascript related libraries) 9679 Mobile development for applications and websites in a variety of development platforms and coding languages 9679 Developing and managing content with serverside technologies APIs content management systems (CMS) and other web services 9679 Fundamental knowledge and understanding of software development concepts (OODOOP Design Patterns) VISUAL DESIGN FOR THE SCREEN 9679 Following a comprehensive visual design process 9679 Using current visual design techniques and workflow 9679 Creating highly refined visual aesthetics for mobile and web interfaces 9679 Expertise in visual design software tools and techniques (designing with CSS web fonts responsive layouts etc) USER EXPERIENCE 9679 Implementing a comprehensive usercentered design process (UCD) 9679 Formal user testing techniques and methods 9679 Lean UX testing techniques and methods and Agile developmentworkflow 9679 Research methods prototyping analysis and hypothesis validation (including ethnography customer surveys demographics etc) General Qualifications For All Instructors 9679 4+ years industry experience in related field 9679 BABFA or equivalent experience in related field (advanced degree preferred but not required) 9679 Exceptional professional portfolio showcasing area of expertise 9679 Previous teaching experience is preferred but not required Position Time and Effort Commitment 9679 Spring 2013 semester starts February 4 2013 and ends May 18 2013 9679 For oncampus teaching Meet in class once a week per class Time expected to be spent preparing for class lectures activities and grading student work 9679 For online teaching Review and participate in online discussions Provide timely student feedback multiple times weekly and assignment grading Qualified applicants should apply via the following link wwwaaujobscom and search for job title PartTime Teaching Positions School of Web Design New Media Please provide cover letter resumeCV and link to online portfolio Applicants may be contacted for followup interview with department director who will provide more information about classes policies and procedures |
