| Job Description Sr Database Administrator Senior DBA Administrator Department IT Division Monrovia (I) Job Summary Working independently andor with general supervision this positions main responsibility is to guarantee the performance integrity security and quality of databases in a production environment In addition oversee contributions by Development Operations and Technical Support to develop and improve databases and related performance Deploy planned releases and oversee backup procedures are adhered to Control system capacity for existing requirements and plans for future needs This position has complete ownership of the Decoreative Specialties data model and data Essential Functions Perform duties to ensure the availability recoverability security and integrity of the enterprises data with minimum supervision Maintain development staging and production database environments Monitor the databases and optimize database performance and use of resources Create implement test and document database backuprestore plan Monitor and managing database backups replications and perform restorations when needed Maintain database performance by developing tuning methodologies Provide information by collecting analyzing and summarizing database performance and trends Schedule and perform upgrades to database Manage database elements including schemas databases tables views indexes stored procedures triggers and declarative integrity constraints Develop maintain and monitor reports and reporting servers Build and maintain analytics cubes Monitor database and replication servers for resource utilization Provide trend analysis for forecasting future resource requirements Monitor and optimize the use of disk space Develop and maintain a comprehensive library of all supporting documentation Assist in database design process as required Review SQL code to ensure it meets standards and will run optimally Install and test new releases and new engines Responsible for overseeing the maintenance of existing production databases participating in new development supporting enhancements and migrating existing databases as needed Specific duties include administration troubleshooting database monitoring tuning and the establishment of related policies and procedures Interact with AnalystsArchitects Development Leaders and technical support staff to ensure smooth and efficient production operations as well as policies and procedures are adhered to Provide afterhours support in the case of deployments and emergencies Knowledge Skill and Experience 710 years experience with enterprisegrade databases (Microsoft Sybase Oracle DB2) of which 5 year must be direct experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or greater 3 of which must be with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 or greater Must have sound judgment advanced analytical skills and troubleshooting skills Excellent verbal and written communications skills Attention to detail Good citizen Understands sense of urgency Ability to follow procedure take direction and comply with standards Advanced experience in database design and programming Advanced experience in SQL disaster recovery operations Advanced experience in stored procedures user defined functions triggers and security Advanced experience in query tuning and indexing Advanced experience of replication log shipping mirroring clustering and server monitoring Advanced experience with Microsoft SQL Reporting Services 2005 or greater Advanced experience with SQL Analysis Services and building Business Intelligence around cubes Must have previous experience with SQL Server 2008 preferably R2 Bachelors degree in Computer science or related field Microsoft certifications are a plus |
