Position Overview: Under the general direction of the Applications Development Supervisor, the Software Systems Analyst provides analytical support to the software development process. This includes technology selection, architecture, requirement generation, leverage planning, tool and component acquisition, initial development and corresponding lifecycle activities. *The services provided directly impact the software quality and feature sets provided to Reliability Coordinators and the WECC membership.* This position requires excellent analytical skills, good communication skills, and teamwork skills to work within the RC function. Major Duties: Participates in the conceptualization and planning for developed applications and related architecture in collaboration with other development personnel and the application support/architecture group. Ensures that the developed application portfolio evolves at an appropriate rate and does not become unviable as the other related system architectures change. Provides the reusable standards, guidelines, patterns and frameworks to application development projects, including those related to application architecture. Makes sure that all aspects of the application solution architecture are optimized (as much as possible given other constraints of time and budget) by working with subject matter experts (SMEs) in the areas of technology, information and application architectures and disciplines. Coordinates requirement development with product owners and ensures proper baseline and version maintenance. Focuses on designing application interfaces and software services to maximize reuse based on the business processes and governance rules for sharing. Ensures system architecture documentation is identified developed and maintained in the most cost-effective manner. Ensures application security strategy is clearly documented, tightly implemented and fully compliant with CIP standards. Works with development team to document and implement best practice Software Configuration Management throughout the development lifecycle. Works directly with the software development team to ensure all developed applications are planned and incorporate future release technologies where feasible. Designs, structures, and organizes the maintenance of data for the company or specified projects.* Ensures the accuracy and accessibility of all important data knowing what data is important and why.* Acts as a middleman, deducing the data needs of a particular group and explaining the importance and use of the data most relevant to them. Maintains the metadata registry of all data in the WECC RC. Minimum Qualifications: Education Bachelor*s degree in computer science or equivalent combination of education and work experience resulting in demonstrated ability to perform major duties. Experience/Skills Six years experience performing in a systems analyst or architectural role in a complex application ecosystem. Knowledgeable in the following technology areas: Microsoft C# Development Microsoft Sharepoint Development Microsoft ASP.NET Microsoft SQL Server (SSIS and SSRS implementations) Data Warehousing Data Modeling Good organization and communication skills, both oral and written, are essential to success in this position. Excellent business writing and communication skills, including the ability to develop and deliver clear concise presentations. Ability to set and meet self-imposed deadlines and conclude assignments with*minimal external prompting. Must be able to work effectively in a highly dynamic team environment and*assist all groups as needed. Preferred Qualifications: Above minimum qualifications and the following: Worked directly in an organization that supports the bulk electric system functions of a Balancing Authority or Transmission Operator CISSP Certification Expert knowledge of Microsoft Project and Sharepoint tools Salary and Benefits: The salary will be competitive and commensurate with relevant experience as well as the responsibilities of the position.
