Job Duties:
Applies knowledge of Project Management methodologies, best practices (i.e., ITIL), tools, resource management and change management practices to manage large, complex projects, ensuring efficient use of resources; strong knowledge of Project Management software applications / technologies. Takes refresher courses and exams to maintain project management skills, which could include PMP certification or other related accreditations. Applies understanding of negotiation nuances and timing to finalizing agreement / contract Ts&Cs with customers and vendors. May develop enterprise-wide project / program strategies, supporting business case and various high-level project plans. Applies excellent communication, analytical, and troubleshooting skills to meeting complex project deliverables; strong grasp of human resource management techniques.
Develops and guides project initiative requirements - asks all universal questions (who, what when, where, how) to define project, estimates man hours required to accomplish specific tasks for budget purposes, obtains authorization; designs project plan, constructs project plan, tests all areas of project with focus on quality assurance to find all errors before implementation (methods, risks, techniques, processes/practices/ procedures, designs, test plans and strategy, spreadsheets of defects, test conditions, test runs, project domicile, etc.) implements plan, develops and trains appropriate audience. Designs and develops training materials for appropriate audience.
Frequently interacts with subordinate managers, customers and/or functional peer group managers, normally involving matters between functional areas, company business units or customers/clients and the company. Manages a function or multiple teams. Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise. Gains cooperation and commitment to take action from staff, peers, senior managers, current and prospective customers with high levels of influence. Leads projects and makes decisions that have high impact to a function, business unit/area. May serve as departmental liaison to interdepartmental or interdivisional project initiatives. Negotiates deliverables from initial requirements to final implementation across multiple business units / functional areas. Serves as initial point of contact for project-related activities within business area(s) being supported.
Normally works independently receiving little instruction on day-to-day work, receives general guidance and review on new assignments. Researches and resolves difficult transaction issues. Assignments include interaction with senior management, higher levels of risk and greater impact to the business. May manage small teams in special projects or implementation of initiatives. Acts as subject matter expert, requiring specialized knowledge in functional or business unit area. Position may provide functional advice or training to less experienced staff. Responsible for achieving group and individual deliverable deadlines. Identifies workflow problems pertaining to team functions; recommends and implements solutions. This is the most senior skill level without assigned supervisory responsibility.
Qualifications 9 to 14 years of financial service industry experience and 4 to 6 years in project environment. BA or BS or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Project Management Certification strongly preferred.
