| ABOUT THE POSITION The Countys Information Technology staff strive to provide innovative and costeffective business solutions to its client departments We are looking for talented innovative and entrepreneurial software developers to expand online access to government services leverage smart phone capabilities and make a lasting impact on our community Software Engineers work under the direction of an assigned supervisor performs a variety of technical duties involved in the analysis development and maintenance of assigned computer systems databases and applications to meet County needs resolves technology problems and implements system enhancements reviews analyzes and modifies existing systems and programs as necessary designs develops tests documents and implements new system applications as assigned and does other related work as required The Software Engineer I classification is the entrylevel position in the series Incumbents work under general supervision and perform basic technical duties involved in the programming development maintenance and analysis of assigned computer systems databases and applications provides information and assistance to customers logs and tracks the nature and resolution of problems The Software Engineer II classification is the journeylevel position in the series Incumbents work under general supervision and perform complex programming development and analysis duties resolves technical issues for departmental systems assists in providing training and technical work direction to subordinate staff MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Software Engineer I An associates degree or 60 semester units or 90 quarter units from an accredited college or university or completion from a jobrelated accredited vocational institution (Job related experience involving analysis programming andor database administration may substitute for the required education on a yearforyear basis) Software Engineer II Either A Graduation from an accredited fouryear college or university with a bachelorrsquos degree in computer science or a related field (Jobrelated experience may substitute for the required education on a yearforyear basis) OR B An associates degree or 60 semester units or 90 quarter units from an accredited college or university or completion from a jobrelated accredited vocational institution In addition two years of experience in analysis programming andor database administration |
