| POSITION SPECIFICATION POSITION TITLE Chief Information Officer REPORTING TO Chief Executive Officer LOCATION Kanab UT THE COMPANY Best Friends Animal Society wwwbestfriendsorg ORGANIZATION Best Friends Animal Society is an extraordinary grass roots organization that has become one the largest and most influential animal welfare organizations in the United States Known as the flagship of the nokill movement in the United States Best Friends operates the nations largest sanctuary for abused and abandoned animals and advocates to save animal lives through adoption from shelters as well as adoption spayneuter and other animal welfare educational programs around the country who receive lifetime care or until hopefully they are adopted into a good home POSITION SUMMARY The CIO role is a new and key leadership role within Best Friends The CIO is expected to participate fully in all business discussions whether or not they directly impact IT A successful CIO will be first a business person and secondly a technologist They must be fluent in technologies and their application to the business but also be able to contribute substantively to any business conversation As a member of the Executive Team the CIO along with the CFO CPO and CDO attends all board meetings The CIO is responsible for managing a highly skilled staff (approximately 20) The CIO must possess a good blend of operational (tactical) and strategic capabilities Heshe will be willing and able to roll up their sleeves and solve technical issues when needed The CIO will be responsible for all areas of Information Technology including application development infrastructure web applications maintenance vendor relationships etc EXPERIENCE SKILLS REQUIRED Lead the strategic vision Architecture design and implementation of all IT products systems and services Adept at evaluating emerging technologies for applicability to the organization These technologies include web and social media infrastructure and data center technologies application development tools and methodologies consumerfacing technologies and application integration technologies Proven experience implementing emerging technologies with both technical and business success Demonstrated track record of increasing efficiencies with existing platforms and the ROI of new systems and software Complete IT background including a minimum of 10 years of experience in application development web development and infrastructure areas Minimum 5 years of senior leadership (CIO or direct report to CIO) within the IT function of a company of at least 500 employees Demonstrated technical skills current within todays online digital environments in addition to experience with traditional back office transactional systems Experience with the implementation and operations of Blackbaud Enterprise strongly desired Extensive nonprofit experience is required as either a staff member or board member of multiple organizations EDUCATION Bachelors degree required advanced degree preferred CONTACT INFORMATION Kara Zavaleta Senior Research Associate 5122380595 Kzavaletadhrinternationalcom |
