Job Description

Purpose Performs activities related to daytoday administration and maintenance of database systems to ensure optimal performance and archiving of data Handle installations upgrades backups and configuration Confer with appropriate managers regarding problems with and capabilities of database systems May do limited amount of design and programming Analyze business data requirements maintain and manage data models and participate in the applications development cycle Responsibilities Evaluate and install new or upgraded database applications Integrate databases with other information systems and perform configurationtroubleshooting performance tuning and maintenance Provide technical support to various departments and users with database problems in order to maximize database utilization Implement security procedures to ensure that databases remain protected Work with vendors or database developers to correct recurring problems with applications and systems Research evaluate and recommend new databases Review contracts for database support services and products Database programming Report development transactional and analytical reports Other related duties as assigned by ManagementExecutive Team Education and Experience Bachelors Degree in computer science or related technical field preferred Microsoft SQL Server Crystal Reports Cognos Powerplay Cognos Impromptu Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) certification desired MCP MCSD certification desired Demonstrated Competence in the following Proficient skill level in Microsoft Office Suite Word Outlook PowerPoint and Excel Internet search processes and research abilities UBNet ADO SQL TSQL Crystal Reports Cognos Thorough understanding of relational database theory Excellent planning time management communication decisionmaking and organizational skills
