student achievement Responsibilities Cal State Northridge seeks a visionary leader to promote the collection and use of data to support campus decisionmaking and development of intelligent systems This individual should excel in the translational area between research and practice be knowledgeable of and excited by the promise of technology but pragmatic in its application Under general direction of the Senior Director of Information Systems and as a member of the Information Technology (IT) Management Team the Director Data and Identity Services is responsible for overseeing the data structure modeling mapping management and the presentation and reporting of data for the University Provide strategic guidance and technical assistance to the campus to improve data collection and analysis capabilities in the context of student access and success (readiness enrollment atrisk and predictive student learning and quality productivity retention progression and graduation personalized learning and services inperson online and hybrid delivery models datamining) Primary focus on collaboration with university stakeholders to develop integrated analytics utilizing the data warehouse Manage the daily operations of the CSUN Identity Services the central IT Database Administrator (DBA) functions and the Application Administration Team which is responsible for design tuning and monitoring the architecture of the enterprise databases this involves environments in Oracle MySQL and MSS and for interfacing with the CMS PeopleSoft administrative systems including a focus on performance patching and other technical issues for the CSUNs PeopleSoft system The Director is responsible for establishing and implementing policies procedures and projects that reflect the mission and goals of this unit as well as the entire IT division and the University In addition the Director provides broad IT leadership to continually extend and improve the service levels IT for the CSUN students faculty and staff in support of the Universitys mission assist the University community to leverage technology in their pursuit of student education and University business provide strategic and tactical technical leadership to the University with regards to current and future technology solutions cultivate professional development within IT by providing opportunities for training in technical skills leadership project management and creative problem solving closely monitor technology trends in the higher education industry as well as the world at large and participate in meaningful exchange of ideas and information with other institutions to improve and expand the use of technology at CSUN Plans staffing including identifying evaluating and recommending the resources needed for service and support activities coordinates and manages project team resources including personnel hardware software and external vendors and consultants as necessary attends meetings and performs other duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelors degree from a four year college or university in Information Systems Computer Science or equivalent experience required Masters degree strongly preferred Equivalent to six years of progressively responsible professional experience required with five of the six years managing an information technology team Strongly preferred qualifications include Higher Education experience managing complex database projects leading a DBA team and identity management experience Knowledge Specialized Skills and Abilities Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational supervisory and interpersonal skills needed to work effectively with a wide variety of internal and external resources Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of building and leading strong teams Strong decision making skills and ability to work under pressure Proven technology leadership and project management experience Pay
