Job Description
| The iTX engineer will be responsible for the iTX installed systems located at Encompass Digital Media Center Los Angeles This will consist of the design installation and the ongoing support of the system This candidate will also have the responsibility of training Operations and Engineering on the capabilities of the iTX systems This position will also have responsibilities to the other broadcast and to a lighter extent production and postproduction equipment Responsibilities The installation configuration troubleshooting and maintenance of the Encompass Miranda iTX systems Develop Standard Operating Procedures as it relates to the iTX and other systems Assist the engineering staff with other projects as required The job requires the requisite skills to effectively listen to a clients requirement and return positive results This job requires writing daily reports documenting the ongoing work the engineer has been involved with day to day emergency repairs longer term issues and project assignments Answer facility emergency technical support calls and provide technical assistance on any broadcast or facility infrastructure problem that may arise Provide installation and commissioning support for facility broadcast system upgrades and new projects Requires supporting other departments and functions as required The ability to successfully train the engineering and operations staff to be able to maintain and operate these systems All engineering staff shift work schedules which are subject to change as needed to support technical operations and evolving engineering priorities Job Qualifications Complete knowledge of the Miranda iTX systems and subsystems Complete knowledge of client server networking Thorough understanding of Microsoft Operating Systems Business Applications and SQL Server Databases Thorough understanding of networking systems Including switches routers Network Attached Storage Appliances Strong verbal and written communications skills and maintaining a confident positive solution oriented attitude is critical to succeeding in the role Possess a detailed knowledge and understanding of television systems and formats transmission and decoding systems signal and quality control analysis broadcast test equipment and standard diagnostic methods Possess a detailed Knowledge of SD HD signals processing updowncross conversion aspect ratio conversion temporal noise reduction and image enhancement processes Possess a detailed knowledge and experience with broadcast television broadcast video servers branding graphics systems master control and production switchers television cameras Digital VTRsDDRs multiscreens routers DVE 2D 3D graphics and compositing systems audio consoles intercom and communication systems Possess knowledge and skills in providing technical support for video prost production systems (Avid Final Cut) Possess knowledge and skills in providing technical support on EIA608 CEA708B standard definition and High Definition closed caption encoders Nielsen Nave II ratings encoders Arbitron ratings encoders Possess comfortable familiarity with providing technical support for transmission and downlink (inbound and turn around) of ASIDS3IP transmission feeds over copper and fiber from satellite or fiber back hauls Possess the skills to provide support for emergency power and HVAC systems for all technical areas Ability to consistently interface in a professional manner with clients supervisors peers Maintain professionalism in all aspects of the position Work in an efficient manner with high quality results Agrees to work changing shift scheduled as assigned including weekends nights holidays EducationalTechnical Requirements Five years minimum experience working in the field of broadcast television engineering with iTX systems Able to read broadcast schematics and understand broadcast equipment and system technical manuals Able to perform broadcast equipment calibration and functional system validation AS Degree in Electronics Technology andor equivalent technical training (4 year college degree in technical program preferred) Society of Broadcast Engineers SBTE CBNE certifications preferred Valid CCNA and other IT and broadcast technical training and certifications are a plus Work Environment This position is operational in nature and has no unusual physical demands Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions |
