Job Description
| This is an analystprogrammer position for a highly motivated individual who is skilled in systems analysis design and implementation of complex systems in the automation of City functions as well as having full life cycle experience developing webenabled MSSQL databasedriven applications Applicant may be assigned to a variety of tasks related to the creation modification or maintenance of systems eg programming user training andor to provide system support to users of various Citywide applications including all third party software packages supported by the Information Technology Department Illustrative Examples of Essential Duties Designs modifies develops writes and implements software programming applications Facilitates entire development life cycle including analysis design testing and implementation Participates in fact finding interviews (Joint Action DevelopmentJAD) to gather information Applies current stateoftheart technology to effect solution of problems arrive at design objectives and requirements Translates system requirements into record layouts andor process flow diagrams and prepares specifications for new information systems andor improvements Organizes performs andor directs feasibility studies systems analysis system design evaluation of operational systems costbenefit analysis schedules resources and costs makes formal written andor verbal presentations of findings recommendations and specifications Participates in the testing process through test review and analysis test witnessing and certification of software Develops application programs using multitiered environment Writes system and security related programs Reviews system resources performance and does maintenance Debugs Infrastructure ApplicationsSoftware problems Reviews analyzes and modifies programming systems including encoding testing debugging and installing to support the organizations application systems Consults with users to identify current operating procedures and to clarify program objectives May be expected to write documentation to describe program development logic coding and corrections Writes manual for users to describe installation and operating procedures Develops and implements database tables including normalization Develops frontend web interfaces using Microsoft Technologies Develops queries and stored procedures Provides full life cycle development including data gathering defining objectives preparing time estimates identification of problems and defining their solutions translating system requirements into scope of work (SOW) presenting recommendations and specifications in written andor verbal presentations Provides system documentation and maintains system enhancements andor modifications through change management protocol Provides training to endusers Analyzes system or application usage and plan for growth or increases in network capacity Manages andor provide guidance to junior members of the team Performs related work as required Minimum Requirements College diploma or university degree in computer science management information systems mathematics or related field One (1) years equivalent work experience as a programmersystems analyst Full systems development life cycle experience developing applications in a three tier environment (Client Application Database) Experience developing webenabled applications VBNet ASPNet SQL Reporting Services Windows Web Services Experience with data management Highly self motivated and directed Experience working in a teamoriented collaborative environment |
