| Department Office of Information Technology Title Position Reports To Director of Budget Planning Project Management JOB SUMMARY Manage the daily activities and support for the Universityrsquos telecom and audio visual equipment utilizing excellent customer service and client support skills Assist in setup breakdown and troubleshooting of audio visual equipment needed to execute effective class lectures and support multimedia needs Direct the acquisition installation maintenance and usage of the Universitys telecommunications (telecom) and cable TV infrastructures RESPONSIBILITIES DUTIES Research cost effective telecom options develop specifications and evaluate bids for telecom carriers cable equipment software and hardware Plan assign direct and evaluate the work of personnel engaged in the installation maintenance and operations of the Universityrsquos telephony and audio visual systems and related support items Direct preparations of bid specifications for the Universityrsquos voice services and audio visual systems Provides effective and responsive audio visual technical and classroom technology equipment support This includes planning testing integration configuring modifying repairing and the maintenance of hardware and software in all classrooms and offices and instructional equipment such as Smartboards LCD TVs Sympodiums ExtronCrestron controllers NECSony projectors Develop and maintain telecom network schematics user guides and disaster recovery procedures Responsible for managing billing systems and bill reconciliation Manage telecom performance and ensures that security procedures are implemented and enforced Troubleshoot telecom problems and train users on telecom operation Establish and implement telecom policies procedures and standards to ensure their conformance with information systems and University objectives in concert with other managers and the Director of Budget Planning Project Management Provide support and consultation to remote locations or clients in order to identify requirements and procure resources Maintain technical currency and study vendor products to determine those which best meet University needs Ensure compliance of vendor maintenance agreements and handle renewals and product warranties Perform other jobrelated duties as assigned REQUIREMENTS Ability to be organized and pay attention to detail Ability to prioritize workload according to volume urgency etc Strong interpersonal skills Knowledge of project management Advanced knowledge and experience in the area of telephone systems (PCXs IVR Voice Mail Call Centers PRI T1 SIP) billing tariff selection and videoconferencing hardware (Cameras codecs gateways distribution servers etc) Experience with various Network topologies their Routers and Bridges and significant cabling design knowledge Experience working in an educational andor fastpaced environment EDUCATIONALEXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Bachelors Degree (Masterrsquos Degree preferred) in related field or technical equivalent plus minimum 5 yearsrsquo experience with telecom andor network systems Prior managementsupervisory experience necessary POSITION(S) SUPERVISED Communications Administrator Sr Communications Specialist Communications Specialist and AudioVisual Communications Engineer |
