Kansas City Missouri The University offers 38 associate baccalaureate and master degree programs which position its graduates for success in their chosen career paths POSITION DESCRIPTION The Programmer Analyst II designs develops and supports a wide range of internal and external applications This position requires someone who is both capable and comfortable with performing all aspects of the software development lifecycle This position works with IT department management to develop assess and achieve shortterm and longterm technical goals for the IT department and the university This position will be required to lead agile teams on small to medium projects KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITES Provide excellent customer service Plans develops tests and documents software applications applying knowledge of best practice programming and database techniques Must be able to read manuals technical whitepapers requirements documents etc and deliver development solutions that meet quality assurance standards Must be able to proactively find and resolve system deficiencies Must be able to reverse engineer applications previously developed for the purpose of adding features patching modernizing code reuse andor capturing business rules for new development Able to communicate effectively with management staff and business users regarding requirements design reviews and prototype presentations Able to manage multiple concurrent projects across multiple languages Work in conjunction with the project management office to perform work based upon priority and schedule Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills including the ability to rapidly determine root cause in regard to introduced development bugsissues Manage code repositories and deployments EDUCATION WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS AND DESIRED SKILLS Bachelorrsquos degree from an accredited fouryear college or university preferred 3 to 7 years of prior development experience using C NET to develop enterprise web applications Experience developing applications in an open source languageframework (PHP Python Ruby Django Ruby on Rails) Prior development experience using C NET to develop desktop console and SOAP web service applications Web application development experience with ASPNet and AJAX Intermediate Knowledge of SQL TransactSQL and PLSQL to include writing queries functions views and procedures in support of application development Web design skills using HTML JavaScript CSS Experience developing to w3c standards Experience with Web Services and System Integrations via Web Services Intermediate understanding of Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle and relational database analysis design performance tuning and backups ASP MVC experience a plus Agile development experience a plus Microsoft SSIS SSAS and SSRS experience a plus Previous experience in the higher education industry a plus Able to effectively communicate orally (in person and by telephone) and in writing Able to multitask yet maintain close attention to detail and timeliness of work production Able to work in a positive teamoriented manner with a variety of people (students faculty staff administrators vendors and members of the general public) Language Skills Able to read analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals financial reports and legal documents Able to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers regulatory agencies or members of the business community Able to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format Able to effectively present information to executive management faculty staff students andor board of directors Mathematical Skill Able to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry Able to apply concepts such as fractions percentages ratios and proportions to practical situations Reasoning Ability Able to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions Able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract
