| Courier Corporation one of Americarsquos leading bookmanufacturers and specialty publishers has an opportunity for an experienced software developer who can provide handson development support of systems which drive the book manufacturing business The position is within the Information Technology department that provides enterprisewide development and support services Job Description Participate in support development and maintenance projects for both inhouse developed and purchased package solutions The primary focus of the position is to provide IT services in the following areas Provide software development services Work with users management to develop deploy enterprisewide solutions Develop effective software solutions that meet or exceed business requirements Follow established IT policies and guidelines Work within the IT department developing software along with team members Provide primary enduser and application systems support services Provide onsite support of operations staff Attend meetings and visit various Courier departments and plants as required Travel to Courier and vendor sites to provide support Be available throughout the business day to interact with employees as events and projects demand Act as a liaison between Courier and software and service vendors Maintain effective communication and availability to complete work in a timely professional manner Participate in support and development activities for the following applications Primac print manufacturing ERP system UniData UniBasic development Rocket Redback ASP Manufacturing Floor systems including Job Ticket Visual Basic development Shop floor data collection PDAQ PDAQDP press data acquisition RFID systems JDF JMF integration with production equipment XBITS XML integration PriNet Intranet portal FastPath Customer web portal Customer Interactions UniData database administration Responsibilities Provide software development and support across a variety of business users and application systems Analyze and document business requirements with business partners Develop detailed written design specifications Write software solutions using UniBasic Visual Basic XML DataStage and HTML Develop reporting using UniBasic ODBC report writing tools and Web technology Develop test plans and perform system and unit testing Maintain software control and versioning Monitoring and tuning application and database performance Ensure adherence to project target dates Provide timely user support and problem resolution for any issues that may arise Assume new responsibilities as directed Skills Able to develop and maintain effective work and business relationships Effective communication skills both written and verbal Strong analytical and problem solving skills Able to translate business requirements into system specifications and solutions Able to deliver solid stable and accurate solutions to business requirements Ability to pick up new technologies quickly Ability to work on concurrent tasks in a fastpaced environment Works with a minimum of direction Business systems and database analysis skills Background BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience 6+ years software development experience preferably in printingbook manufacturing Software development experience preferably with Primac or another print ERP system Strong Rocket (ArdentIBM) UniData UniBasic or PICK Multivalue development experience Redback and ASP a plus Experience providing 1st level user support to commercial applications Experience developing interfacesintegration between systems Proficient with Windows and desktop computing Effective in working on a team in support and development efforts Good relationship with customers Must be eager to learn Knowledge of relational database concepts Dependable and reliable Interested candidates should send resume along with a cover letter summarizing their experience and salary expectations to dferuscouriercom mailtodferuscouriercom Candidate must live within a commutable distance from N Chelmsford Massachusetts Relocation is not offered with this position Founded in 1824 and headquartered in North Chelmsford Massachusetts Courier Corporation has approximately 1500 employees in eight operating locations throughout the United States Courier provides a comprehensive benefits package including 401k with full vested employer matching contributions medical and dental insurance life insurance disability insurance and stock purchase plan |
