| Freedom House promotes the spread of freedom and democracy around the world through research effective advocacy and programs that support frontline activists We are a leader in identifying threats to freedom through our highly regarded analytic reports including Freedom in the World Freedom of the Press Freedom on the Net Nations in Transit and Countries at the Crossroads With 13 field offices and two US offices we support the right of every individual to be free Position Summary The Senior Manager for Operations will oversee and manage Freedom Houses daytoday operation functions in our field offices and USbased offices The position is based in Washington DC and reports to the Chief Financial Officer Minimum Qualifications Bachelorrsquos degree in Business or related field Masterrsquos degree strongly preferred 1012 years directly related experience with at least 4 years managing staff 2 years of experience managing operations in a global NGO strongly preferred Strong ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing Expert project management skills from conception through implementation and closeout Strong ability to maintain a positive demeanor and succeed in a growing organization Flexibility adaptability and strong ability to thrive in a fastpaced environment with changing priorities in multiple locations Excellent interpersonal skills to successfully work with contacts and stakeholders in diverse and crosscultural environments with sensitivity and a high degree of courtesy Superb ability to apply good judgment in dealing with contacts and problem resolution Strong ability to persuade and facilitate cooperation between people with divergent views Attention to detail ability to multi task and produce errorfree work on deadline Knowledge and understanding of human rights and democracy issues around the world Some Duties and Responsibilities Manage the organizationrsquos relationship with vendors for opsrelated issues Oversee the efficient and professional functioning of the daytoday office operations (DC and NY) including front office and backofthehouse functions Oversee procurement leasing and proper inventory of supplies office equipment and capital expenditures and purchases such as furniture appliances etc Serve as the main point of contact for all building and landlordrelated issues Ensure operational policies and procedures are up to date and communicated to staff Assist with field office compliance issues relating to operations infrastructure office openings and closings and field office policies and procedures Attend programmatic backstopping meetings and address operational issues Research country registration regulations and procedures Maintain field office contracts and leases Manage travel and field office security and protocols Assist in the assessment for and setup and breakdown of field offices Oversee and ensure the professional appearance scheduling and functioning of the DC office inhouse conference facilities and AV equipment Coordinate create and manage annual budgets for operations division including ensuring appropriate and timely payment and file keeping to contractors and service providers Other related duties as assigned We offer great benefits including 100 employerpaid dental insurance 100 employerpaid health insurance or generously subsidized depending on selected option 100 employer paid life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment 100 employer paid shortterm disability and longterm disability insurance Supplementalvoluntary life insurance for employee spouse and child(ren) 403(b) Retirement Plan with generous matching funds with 2 year 100 vesting schedule Flexible Spending Accounts for medical and dependent care reimbursable expenses Transportation pretax payroll deduction for metro and garage parking in DC Generous paid vacation leave sick leave personal leave and holidays Tuition Reimbursement for graduate studies And much morehelliphellip Qualified and Interested applicants We invite qualified candidates to send a resume and cover letter with salary history and desired salary (only candidates who send salary requirements will be considered for the position) to recruitingfreedomhouseorg mailtorecruitingfreedomhouseorg or fax at (202) 8223893 Attention HR Dept referencing 2013001 SMO Only candidates who have been selected for an interview will be contacted Only candidates authorized to work in the US without any restrictions need apply EOE MFDV |
