| SUMMARY Under general supervision and as part of a close project team perform a variety of professional and technical duties involved in programming and systems integration support for current and future technologies introduced at NMSL Specifically assist in implementing a 3rd party servicing system requiring scripting management of data elements and working closely with a report writing team Work with internal and external customers to develop new or custom features to current software products and services SUPERVISION EXERCISED Exercises no supervision EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES Primary Duties Design develop modify document and test computer systems or programs including prototypes Consult with users to identify changing needs or problems determine hardware and software needs and assess system performance Perform systems analysis functions to include troubleshooting and root cause analysis Provide programming and system integration services to support current and future systems at NMSL Research and recommend new technologies designed to increase organizational productivity decrease costs or that provide strategic value to the organization Recommend technology standards and bestinclass practices Secondary Duties Support the implementation of advanced technology solutions in business and systems applications Provide training to staff as to the use Competencies Unusually diverse skill set ndash strong communicator great analysis skills and experience with coding and database technologies that are old and new Strong VB andor C scripting experience Thorough exposure to database technologies (SQL DB2) with normalization and data modeling experience preferable C VB VBA NET and even BASIC Some experience in terminal emulation screen scraping or DDE (Dynamic Data Exchange) preferred Experience integrating with other APIs Ability to analyze and categorize data and information in order to determine the relationship of the data with reference to established criteriastandards Knowledge of relational database management systems and database design and programming Knowledge of network operating systems Knowledge of IT infrastructure design security principles and business recovery concepts Knowledge of Agile software development methodologies Knowledge of data base design development and maintenance MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Experience Minimum four years of experience working as a software developer employing the technical competencies listed above Experience working on a dedicated project team required Education Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field from an accredited college or university License or Certificate Possession of or ability to obtain an appropriate valid drivers license Special Requirements Essential duties require the following physical skills and work environment Ability to work in a standard office environment including ability to sit stand walk kneel crouch stoop squat twist and lift 25 lbs ability to travel to different sites and locations |
