| OCLC Online Computer Library Center Inc is a nonprofit membership computer library service and research organization dedicated to the public purposes of furthering access to the worlds information and reducing information costs Tens of thousands of libraries around the world use OCLC services to locate acquire catalog lend and preserve library materials We are currently seeking candidates for a Java Engineer position at our Corporate Headquarters in Dublin (Columbus) Ohio Responsibilities Uses industry standard programming techniques to translate requirements and designs into code Analyze and solve problems in existing systems Design code and test multiple modules of a system in a timely manner Participates in unit system and acceptance testing by designing tests building test data test execution and evaluation along with recommendingmaking improvementsfixes to the tested system Assists in developing and interpreting requirements Qualifications Soft Skills Strong communication skills Ability to work on a distributed team and with outside development teams Knowledgeable in Semantic Web Design Experience with Agile development methodologies Knowledgeable in Test Driven Development and automated testing methodologies Familiarity with Web Accessibility Object Oriented DesignUML Skills Comfortable working in an open office layout Hard Skills Java (strong) Spring 3 (knowledgeable) JavaScript framework YUI (knowledgeable) CSS including CSS4 (knowledgeable) HTML 5 (a plus) Flex (a plus) MySQL (strong) 13 years Sybase (a plus) XMPP (strongly desirable) Working knowledge of Perl scripting Experience developing in Unix environments Bachelors degree in a Computer Sciencerelated discipline required and skills usually represented by 24 years of software development experience Object Oriented Design Java is desirable Experience with analysis and design of large applications Creative and innovative thinker Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team environment |
