| SOFTWARE AS A SERVICE DEVELOPMENT MANAGER GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES Accountable for development team schedules development and quality Work with Polaris management team to help set strategic direction of development organization Keep project schedules and budgets current and communicate scheduling and product delivery information to executives and other departments Ensure the offshore development teams (may be up to 100 resources) are able to meet company objectives Manage process and implement webbased database tool for offshore teams Work closely with Polaris accountproject managers Lead product improvement and product maintenance release Manage scrum process and ensure appropriate Agile methodology techniques Manage prioritize and schedule development of new products and product enhancements Mentor employees and assist in monitoring employee performance Work closely with Quality Analysts and QA Manager to ensure proper test plans are prepared executed and their results analyzed for appropriate next steps Work closely with Subject Matter Experts to define technical design of products Ensure product is tested thoroughly in compliance with the product functional requirements and release schedules REQUIREMENTS Minimum 10 years experience in Software Development and related areas Minimum 3 years experience managing and scheduling software development teams on the Microsoft Platform including NET(ASPNET C ADONet Web Services TFS Remoting Report writers 3rd party controls etc) and Microsoft SQL Server Strong project management skills (PMP certification and Six Sigma strongly preferred) Experience using MS Project or similar webbased project planning tools Exposure to managing teams that work with open source frameworks Thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proven technical writing abilities Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with employees other departments and upper management Teamoriented thinking with demonstrated ability to produce highquality work as part of a fastpaced dynamic team that is focused on delivering customer delight Proven ability to collaborate with and drive crossfunctional and interdepartmental teams Strong visible leadership with ability to inspire employees to produce outstanding results Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously Knowledge of software development methodologies and processes including Agile methodologies Preference for experience with a customizable offtheshelf (COTS) software project OTHER REQUIREMENTS Ability to work flexible hours to meet needs of offshore teams (ie 6am or 11pm status meetings with offshore team plus core hours inoffice) Upon job offer applicant must be able to pass background check and drug test ABOUT POLARIS Polaris Solutions is a technology services firm specializing in innovative endtoend solutions solving compliance challenges for life sciences clients We offer consulting software products and business process outsourcing to assist clients in meeting their compliance goals while balancing improvements to underlying business processes Polaris is a small entrepreneurial firm (70 employees) rapidly growing and expanding to the next level We are headquartered in New York City with other offices in San Francisco and Amsterdam The Development Manager opening is an exciting position for the right person who has a software development background peoplemanagement experience and who is looking to grow with the firm If the above sounds like a good match for your experience and interests please apply today (Please no phone calls) |
