Job Description
| As a Lead Infrastructure Engineer within the Data Network Operations team you will be a key contributor to designing building and supporting large enterpriselevel networks using next generation technologies ensuring American Express Technologies (AET) is anchored in innovation supporting our business and IT strategic plans This role can be located in Phoenix AZ or Greensboro NC Enables the technical delivery of a set of projects Works with the application teams to design manage the acquisition installation and configuration of the technical components of the solution and manage the daytoday operations of the local and deployed instances of the solution Responsible for ensuring that infrastructure solutions adhere to technical standards Work closely with business and application teams to define frame and capture business needs Partner with Network Architecture team to develop and provision network solutions to support business and application requirements Collaborate with vendor partners to install configure test and certify network infrastructure solutions Apply architectural and engineering concepts to design solutions that meet operational requirements such as scalability maintainability security reliability extensibility flexibility availability and manageability Support network infrastructure retrofits asset refreshes and remediation activities as required Identify technologies to employ based on price performance service agreements and organization constraints Coach and mentor engineering resources and provide advice guidance and assistance to less experienced colleagues as required Responsible for the quality of deliverables in terms of the technical design implementation testing and adherence to American Express (AXP)network standards Produce documentation and engineering diagrams for technical and operations support Ensure issues are identified tracked reported on and resolved in a timely manner Expected to work occasional nights and weekends Ability to translate technical issues into understandable business language for end users Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and respond under pressure Requires 5+ years of enterpriselevel networking experience Expertlevel knowledge of Cisco routers and switches (ISRASR Nexus Catalyst series) Deep understanding of network routing and switching topologies and protocols (TCPUDPIP OSPF BGP EIGRP SpanningTree VPC VDC) Solid understanding of network security and service policies (Firewalls ACLs IPSec VPNs QoS) Considerable knowledge in F5 Load Balancers Experience in diagnosing network issues using network sniffer capture tools (NetScout Wireshark etc) Prefer familiarity with products and technologies such as Riverbed and Cisco WAN Acceleration NetQoS NetFlow Multicast Certifications are a plus (ie CCNP CCIE) Typically holds a Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Information Systems or other related field or has equivalent work experience Proven experience with network capacity planning network security principles and general network management best practices Excellent communication (oral written and presentation) organizational and collaboration skills Proficient in the creation of diagrams and presentations using Microsoft Visio and PowerPoint applications |
