| GENERAL SUMMARY As Relay GSE expands and matures we continue to improve our program through targeted online learning and explore how to integrate the best innovations across education technology We are reimagining both online learning and teacher training and Relay GSE believes that technology is a strategic lever to achieving our vision serving a broader audience of teachers and thus having a greater impact on our public schools and our children THE ROLE As the Chief Technology Officer you will envision and realize Relay GSErsquos approach to technology As a seasoned project manager with demonstrable technology experience you will oversee the implementation of an online learning environment that will be used by thousands of teachers across the country to better prepare them to serve hundreds of thousands of children You will be a key member of Relay GSErsquos executive leadership team scaling Relay GSE from a local 60person organization to a national organization of several hundred colleagues In collaboration with Relay GSErsquos executive leadership team you will evaluate the organizationrsquos needs and aspirations for online learning in light of the educational technology landscape thereby articulating a vision for Relay GSErsquos technology architecture You will then realize that vision through a judicious combination of bestinbreed technology vendors custom software delivered both by inhouse and outsourced application developers and data integration As the Chief Technology Officer you will manage and coordinate product design application development technology infrastructure and technology operations ensuring congruence across all of Relay GSErsquos technology activities OUR TEAM We currently have nimble product and technology teams that include a fulltime developer a fulltime product manager several fulltime technology generalists two fulltime technology infrastructure specialists and other colleagues with expertise in online learning media production and K12 and graduate schools Key projects for the upcoming year include Extending Relay GSErsquos webbased software to iPads and other tablets and mobile devices Exploring online learning innovations piloting those with promise and scaling those that will meaningfully improve Relay GSErsquos program Synthesizing early generation software into a holistic engaging user experience Solidifying ldquosystems of truthrdquo and providing engaging accurate dashboards visuals and analytics to scale and more efficiently manage the organization QUALIFICATIONS At least 7 ndash 10 years of relevant experience Demonstrated experience with envisioning and realizing webbased services that meet consumer needs and solve business problems A passion backed by knowledge of what it takes to create a compelling user experience An entrepreneurial spirit with the desire to individually own primary responsibility for technology and collectively realize the vision of future products Excellent communication skills to both technical and nontechnical audiences Eagerness to coach and develop team members Fluency with at least one software development methodology Attention to detail as well as proven organizational skills A bachelorrsquos degree or higher in computer science or related field ABOUT US The Relay Graduate School of Education (Relay GSE) is a groundbreaking graduate school with an innovative Masterrsquos degree program designed specifically to respond to todayrsquos urgent demand for effective and successful teachers Relay GSE is currently serving nearly 650 graduate or alternate route program students in both New York and New Jersey Relay GSErsquos mission is to teach teachers to develop in all students the academic skills and strength of character needed to succeed in college and life Our academic programs mdash practically focused reinforced by the proven practices of highperforming schools and substantiated by research mdash were designed to enable our graduates to lead their predominantly urban students to demonstrable annual achievement gains Relay GSE is positioned to bring about transformational change in teacher preparation becoming the place where a new generation of continuouslyimproving resultsfocused individuals can fulfill their destiny in the worldrsquos greatest profession |
