Senior Software Developer
Dow Jones MarketWatch
Location: Downtown Minneapolis near Target Field
Position Description:
Become a member of the market leading MarketWatch.com development team, where you will work alongside business stakeholders, product owners, and developers to build highly interactive, dynamic and data driven web applications for MarketWatch.com. Developers will be responsible for new product development, customizations, and enhancements and will work closely with cross-functional staff to deliver against project goals.
This position requires strong web service development skills (REST/WCF) and a deep understanding of object-oriented programing, service oriented architecture and good communication abilities. Ideal candidates will have a background in Agile Deployment practices and will have comfort working independently and have the ability to work within a team and collaborate with other teams. HTML 5 and jQuery experience is a plus as is familiarity with MVC and other design patterns. A background in mathematics or statistics is a plus as is familiarity with market data feeds.
Position Skills and Experience:
  • Strong understanding of software best-practices as it applies to web application development
  • Understanding of the financial markets is a big plus
  • Background in mathematics or statistics is a big plus
  • Familiarity with Linux environment a big plus
  • Experience with web based technologies with a combination of the following: HTML, CSS, HTML5, JavaScript, jQuery, ASP.Net MVC, IIS, WCF, REST, JSON
  • Object-oriented programming ability (such as C#, C , or Java)
  • Experience with Agile Development methodologies (SCRUM)
  • Understanding of service oriented architecture
  • Ability to prioritize and manage work, adhering to critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment
  • A self-starter that is able to collaborate actively with others in a cross-functional team
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent years of experience.
