| SUMMARY OF POSITION The Information Systems Senior Support Specialist is responsible for system administration and performance tuning of AS400 iSeries 550 and 570 V5R4 systems and Windows servers and NetApp storage This includes system upgrades system documentation daily administration and problem resolution as well as assisting staff and users in problem resolution as needed relating to hardware software and communications issues LEVEL OF SUPERVISION This position requires little supervision and the expectation is that the incumbent can operate independently and individually as well as a member of a team KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Administration and support of the companys IBM iSeries AS400 iSeries 550 and 570 V5R4 systems Performance tuning and monitoring of the IBM AS400 iSeries 550 and 570 V5R4 systems Administer MIMIX (high availability solution for IBM iSeriesAS400) Windows system administration responsible for creating and managing Windows servers Performs maintenance upgrades and enhancements and troubleshoot any Windows related issues and provide user support SAN Storage administration responsible for provisioning (Zoning Masking) primarily on NetApp platforms Administer monitor and maintain Netapp NAS environments with intermediate knowledge of CIFS NFS protocols and recommend ongoing storage performance optimization utilizing best practices Collect and analyze storage performance metrics across multiple platforms and perform capacity planning and storage reporting Creating and enforcing IT security policies and controls As a member of the IT services staff responds to software and hardware problem calls on site or over the phone for users Investigates error messages and determines resolution Reinstalls programs or replaces files that are causing errors Calls software and hardware vendors or accesses on line technical support to obtain updates Investigates appropriate areas of potential problems and determines resolution Maintains expertise in the operation and application of a wide variety of commonly used computer software and hardware May coordinate IT or departmental purchases of application software andor hardware and provide license tracking location wide on all centrally purchased packages such as antivirus operating systems and office suites Performs other related duties as required to accomplish the objectives of the position Provide IT systems backup integrity and recovery coordination along with disaster preparedness planning Security system administration Assist in developing and maintaining the strategy of the future direction of the IT systems LEVEL OF SUP ERVISION This position requires little supervision and the expectation is that the incumbent can operate independently and individually as well as a member of a team EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Five years or more relevant experience with IBM AS400 iseries 550 and 570 platforms utilizing V5R4 OS Experience with MIMIX DDM and CL scripting Five years or more relevant experience with Windows Server running a Virtual Machine environment Three to five years relevant experience with SAN storage administration in an enterprise environment Strong experience with servers cabling systems switches telephone systems and routers Customer service experience required Extensive special technical knowledge of the techniques and procedures of software hardware and network support for multiple users Must understand installation configuration and troubleshooting processes for software hardware networking and accessory equipment Requires extensive analytical skills to assess problems or unusual situations and develop solutions EDUCATIONLICENSESCERTIFICATIONFORMALTRAINING High School Diploma or GED required A BABS degree in computer related field is desired Two or more job related certifications highly desired ESSENTIAL ABILITIES Read write and understand the English language Must be able to read and follow blueprints and schematics Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills Ability to perform typical computer server and network administration Must demonstrate knowledge in user administration Sense of urgency and selfmotivation ability to work independently Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Excellent written and oral communication skillsPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Prolonged standing and periodically lifting stretching and twisting Prolonged sitting and terminal use May be required to lift up to 50 lbs periodically Hand dexterity and strength Work outside normal hours may be required including some weekends WORK ENVIRONMENT Work performed primarily indoors and in production type facility There will be some travel to other Milgard locations Milgard does not tolerate discrimination
