| Join our exciting fastpaced development team in a growthoriented creative and energetic environment Our IT department develops vital products for our customers and provides topnotch technical support in addition to developing and maintaining inhouse hardware software and networking systems We are dedicated to providing our customers the most uptodate solutions for all their learning continuing education and test preparation needs We offer an engaging positive and challenging work environment with flexible hours great benefits and casual dress We are always accepting applications Software Developer Be part of a fastpaced team within the IT department that develops documents tests and maintains a wide array of software including web mobile and desktop customer facing applications along with internal server desktop and web systems Requirements A computer science degree andor enrolled in computer science classes or equivalent knowledge and experience Knowledge of and experience with at least one of the following languages or a suitably similar alternative Java PHP C++ or Delphi Ability to critically think and understand projects from the business customer and technical perspectives Strong attention to detail Able to be self directed and work independently Ability to multitask and adapt to quickly changing priorities and technologies Your Expected Duties Our projects vary widely in scope and technology but essentially you will be doing these types of tasks on a daytoday basis Designing and implementing new software Maintaining and improving the functionality of existing software and products Developing test cases and project documentation Conducting code reviews of colleaguesrsquo work Communicating with managers technical support networking and your developer colleagues Database design and implementation (most often with MySQL) Web design (many of our products are online courses and emulations of existing standardized tests) The most common work setup is a Windows PC with shell access to our Linux servers most of your development work will be on the Linux servers although you have freedom to choose to develop directly on the server or use a Windows IDE or other editing tools What You Get Out of It We accommodate those just starting their software development career with a builtin company philosophy of continual improvement of the abilities of both our customers and employees We accommodate seasoned pros by allowing freedom responsibility and ownership of your projects right away You will have a wide choice of technologies to use such as your preferred IDE and development tools and server scripting languages and tools We offer a lowstress comfortable and friendly work environment with minimal bureaucracy our focus is on getting projects done Yet we follow train and enforce professional software development habits We are very flexible with work hours we accommodate a wide range of work schedules and we may allow telecommuting on a casebycase basis |
