Overview
THQ Inc. makes video game software for personal computers, portable devices and gaming consoles from Sony Corp., Microsoft Corp. and Nintendo. The company is based in Los Angeles, and many of its titles are based on licensed entertainment characters such as Scooby-Doo!, Bratz, Cars, Nickelodeon's SpongeBob SquarePants and Disney/Pixar's WALL*E and Ratatouille. THQ game genres span action, adventure, fighting, racing, role-playing, simulation, sports and strategy.
The company was created in 1991 when Trinity Acquisition Corp. merged with toy maker Toy Head-Quarters, which was founded by industry veteran Jack Friedman.
In 2009, THQ sold its Big Huge Games unit to a rival, 38 Studios. In early 2010, the company layed off 60 employees.
Recruiting
THQ Inc. considers programmer candidates who have at least one year of experience. The company also recruits for technical artists, producers, character artists, animators, and systems administrators.
