Marvell Technology Group Ltd. makes semiconductors used in storage drives, mobile wireless equipment, networking devices and consumer products. Its customers include storage-drive makers Western Digital Corp. and Toshiba Corp. The company is based in Santa Clara, Calif., and has operations in Europe, Israel, Singapore and China.

Marvell is targeting the e-book market with its chips and collaborating with E Ink Corp., a supplier of "e-paper" displays used in many digital-book readers.

Marvell recently agreed to pay $72 million to settle a class action lawsuit related to the backdating of stock-option grants. The settlement came one month after Marvell and one of its founders agreed to pay a $10 million fine to settle U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission charges of backdating.
