Overview

Headquartered in New York City and operating in more than 30 countries, IAC/InterActive Corp. is an online media company with more than 50 consumer Web sites. Its Internet properties include the search service Ask.com, dating site Match.com, entertainment guide CitySearch, shopping site Gifts.com, the Evite event planning service, Ticketmaster.com, and the news and gossip blog, The Daily Beast.

The company operates in four business segments: Search, Match, ServiceMagic, and Media and other businesses.

In 2008, billionaire media mogul and IAC chairman Barry Diller, who made a fortune decades ago with his Home Shopping Network, split his Internet media properties into five separate companies. Ask.com has consistently ranked a distant fourth in the Internet search business behind much larger rivals. Diller has indicated the unit is not central to the company's future, leading to speculation that it could be sold.

Culture

At the helm of IAC is billionaire media mogul Barry Diller. In 2010, Diller's estimated net worth was $1.2 billion, according to Forbes. He is known for his aggressive, confrontational management style. He is married to fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg.

Legendary architect Frank Gehry designed IAC/InterActive Corp.’s New York offices, which the tech blog ValleyWag ranked as one of the top 10 tech-industry workspaces.

Philanthropy is a focus at IAC. The IAC Foundation funds organizations around the globe through matching gifts and direct corporate donations spearheaded by IAC employees. Employees also participate in an Annual Community Service Day each summer.
