Overview

Flextronics makes a broad range of electronic gear, including networking equipment for Cisco Systems Inc., computers for Hewlett-Packard Co. and mobile phones for Research In Motion Ltd. and Sony-Ericsson. In 2009, Flextronics was chosen by LG Electronics to manufacture big-screen TVs for distribution to the North and South American markets.

The global economic downturn hit Flextronics' customers business, however, and the company shared the pain. In 2009, Flextronics announced a restructuring that included laying off 1,400 employees. It still employs more than 150,000 worldwide.
