Overview

Fiserv Inc. provides information management services and electronic commerce systems to the financial services industry. Services include payments, processing, risk and compliance, and customer and channel management. Headquartered in Brookfield, Wis., the company has 200 locations worldwide and 16,000 clients. Its revenue is split about equally between its processing and payments operations.

Since its founding in 1984, Fiserv has grown mainly through acquisitions. It acquired online payment company CheckFree Corp. in 2007 and recently the company acquired AdviceAmerica, which provides desktop technology to financial advisers.

BusinessWeek ranked Fiserv in the 100 Hottest Tech Companies of 2009, a list which featured companies that managed to thrive during the global recession.

Culture

Fiserv benefits include an employee stock purchase plan. The company also has a wellness program. During a recent company fitness challenge, more than 6,000 employees accumulated nearly two million miles of walking, running and biking over an eight-week period.

Recruiting

Recruiters screen candidates first, and the company asks behavioral questions -- questions about how you behaved in specific situations, rather than hypothetical questions.
