BankSimple, a yet-to-be-launched personal banking platform, plans to hire 40 new employees over the next year after raising $10 million in a funding round led by existing investor IA Ventures. Founded in 2009, the Portland, Ore.-based company currently has 18 employees.
The company is hiring back-end engineers, front-end engineers, a Ruby engineer, a lead quality assurance engineer, an iOS interface developer, and an operations engineer. The company's front-end programming focuses on Javascript, while the back-end is coded primarily in Scala, said Adam Erlebacher, vice president of product marketing.
Outside of technology, the majority of the company's hires will be in customer service. All positions will be based in Portland where the company recently relocated.
Compensation is competitive and the company offers equity to new hires, Erlebacher said.
"We give developers a unique experience compared to what's available at an investment bank or hedge fund," Erlebacher said. "You can take your skills and build something rather than move money around."
