Boulder, Colo.-based Rally Software will hire 25 new employees every quarter for the next two years after raising $20 million in Series A financing this summer. "We did that financing in order to support internal growth and several potential acquisitions," said Chief Executive Tim Miller.
The company makes engineering collaboration software for enterprises, and currently has around 275 employees. Rally's engineering stack is in Java, Miller said, but the company looks for technologists who are "really smart" and generalists. The company is hiring systems engineers, platform and Web developers, systems analysts and testers, he said.
Most of the rest of the company's new hires are in sales and about 20% will be in operations, Miller said. Sales candidates need to "understand software development and agile technologies," Miller said. "Having specific domain knowledge in our industry helps."
Miller declined to discuss the company's revenues, but said that Rally is a "pre-IPO company." Asked if an initial public offering was on the horizon, he said, "No comment."
Rally's culture is highly collaborative and engineers are encouraged to "create their own reality," Miller said. "Create your own reality in our world means thinking into the future where you want to be, what you want to do, and what you want to achieve," he said, "and align those interests with the company."
Rally's cash and equity compensation is competitive, Miller said.
